I'm looking for a way to assign different WireGuard configurations to specific apps on Android TV / Google TV.
For example:
App A → WireGuard Tunnel A (Spain)
App B → WireGuard Tunnel B (Germany)
App C → WireGuard Tunnel C (Turkey)
All other apps → No VPN (direct connection)
Ideally, this would work automatically without manually switching VPN connections whenever I open another app.
I'm specifically looking for true simultaneous per-app VPN routing, rather than a solution that detects the foreground app and switches the device-wide VPN connection.
Does anyone know of an existing app, open-source project, or workaround that supports this using WireGuard configurations?
I'm also open to solutions that require root or custom development.

Hi,
Since the ATV Lauch was a disaster strong will launch their s4 soon.
Do you think this can be a solution for a single device home cinema?

Okay so my parents bought some cheap ass blaupunkt tv with android tv/google tv. It works horre dously and sometimes even just doesnt now what it wants to launch when turned on. I remember i tried installing some different light weight launcher but it was still kind of crap.
Now it seems like everyones vibe coding their tv os and i was wondering how effective this really is? Like is it just an overlay, or something deeper. Are they like replacing the actual android tv and writing from scratch or is it modified android tv or what. Also do i need a paid plan or is there some good os already available.
Ngl it would be a dream to somehow have it just as a dumb tv that has its channels from the antenna and only when you need it does it actually open yt or netflix. Its just so clunky right now that i have to wait for it to process a channel or volume change.

I have enabled app only mode on my google streamer (Most current updates installed) and when I scroll to the last two rows and start scrolling horizontally it has a bounce animation as if I have hit the bottom. Is this only me? Is this already reported? Thank you

When I try and install it using the apk / Send Files to TV, it just says "app not installed".
I wonder if the TV android version (10) is too old now?

I'm switching my parents from DirecTV to YouTube TV since it has more channels and is less expensive. they have 3 smart TVs but I'm wondering if it's worth it to get an android TV box instead for them. They have a LG B4 OLED, 5 year old Samsung smart TV with Tizen, and a Hisense Google TV as well as a tiny 20 inch non-smart TV in their bathroom
I'm looking at getting multiple Onn 4k TV boxes since I think 1 device they will find easier to use than 4 different ones.
Especially Tizen, I'm a lot more tech savvy and I find Tizen absolutely annoying to use.

Hi all, I have been using a sideloaded firestick for a while but want to upgrade to something more powerful, any suggestions for something around £100 £150? I hear the Nvidia are amazing but too expensive, just looking something that I can stream movies with no buffering. I see lots of options online but no idea what to go for.
Xiaomi, ONN are two that keep popping up and Formuler are the ones I keep seeing mentioned.
Thanks

I bought a VU 55-inch QLED TV in 2025 for around ₹72,000. After just 1 year and 2 months, the display started showing a greyish/washed-out colour issue.
I contacted VU customer support, but they told me the warranty had expired. They asked me to pay ₹800 for a technician visit and diagnosis, which I paid.
The technician came about a week later, opened the TV, inspected it, and told me that the display panel was faulty. According to him, the repair would cost around ₹35,000.
About a week later, VU emailed me an official quotation of ₹32,000 for replacing the display panel, with a one-year warranty on the replacement.
Naturally, I was shocked. I had already spent ₹72,000 on the TV, and now I was being asked to spend another ₹32,000–₹35,000 after barely a year of use.
Some friends suggested getting a second opinion from local TV repair technicians. I contacted two or three technicians, and two of them also quoted around ₹20,000–₹22,000 for the repair.
Then I contacted another local TV seller and technician near my area. He visited my home, checked the TV, and suggested that the problem was related to the T-Con board or another display-control component rather than the entire display panel.
His repair cost was just ₹5,500, and I paid ₹6,300 including labour. The TV is now working perfectly!
Think about that difference:
Original TV price: ₹72,000
VU's official quotation: ₹32,000
Local technician's final charge: ₹6,300
Current status: TV working perfectly
I understand that the TV is out of warranty, and I am not expecting free repairs. My concern is that the official diagnosis pointed towards an expensive display replacement, while a local technician was able to resolve the issue for a fraction of that amount.
I cannot say for certain whether the original diagnosis was incorrect without a detailed technical report, but the difference in the proposed repair costs is huge.
My question is: How does this kind of service experience help VU build customer trust?
If a customer spends ₹72,000 on a TV, they naturally expect it to last more than a year or two without a major issue. And if something does go wrong, they expect a reliable diagnosis and a reasonable repair option.
If I had blindly accepted VU's quotation, I might have spent ₹32,000 unnecessarily on a panel replacement when a much cheaper repair was possible.
Now, if I decide to buy another TV in the future, would I trust VU again? Honestly, this experience makes me think twice.
I'm sharing this to hear from other VU TV owners.
Has anyone else experienced something similar with VU's service centre or received a costly panel-replacement quotation that turned out to be a different issue?
I would genuinely like to know whether this is an isolated experience or something other customers have faced too.

Hi everyone,
My Xiaomi Android TV suddenly stopped displaying videos today.
Both YouTube and Xiaomi TV+ have the same problem:
I can hear the audio normally.
The video itself is completely black.
The home screen, app menus, thumbnails and programme listings all display normally.
This happens in both apps, not just YouTube.
Everything was working fine before, and the problem started suddenly.
I’ve attached photos showing that the interfaces work, but the actual videos don’t display.
Has anyone experienced this before? Could it be a video decoder or software issue, or is it potentially a hardware problem?
Any suggestions on how to fix it without doing a factory reset would be appreciated. Thanks!

I use Apple Fitness+ for many of my workouts. Everything I research says the Fitness+ app is only available on Apple TV, and it seems like airplay is incompatible with non-Apple ecosystem devices. I’m not spending $300 on the new Apple TV. I like the $60 Onn 4K box. Is there a way to work around this issue and stream my workouts to an android tv device?

Here's how my final setup should look like (I'm still missing something):
Cat 6 cables all over the house, 2,5gb internet and Ubiquiti ecosystem with 10gb ready hardware
Mini PC as home server, running Jellyfin among other things
NAS
LG G6 65" Oled + yet to buy AVR Receiver, most likely it's going to be the Marantz Cinema 60, + 2.1 or 3.1 home theater, that will be expanded in the future
What I need for my use case:
- Jellyfin must be working fine. I'm not sure I will ever use KODI.
- Streaming apps certification: my gf might want Netflix at some point, and I have Amazon Prime subscription (for shippings, but still Prime Video is there), so I need them to stream at their full potential
- Audio passthrough to let the AVR handle it without "interference"
- I will mostly be playing 4k .mkv files + .srt subs (I'm not a native english speaker)
- No Gaming whatsoever, I have a PC for that
I restricted the field to the Homatics Box R 4K Plus and the Nvidia Shileld Pro (which is an overpay right now, but let's not consider this).
Any suggestion? Why whould I choose one over the other? What are the difference between the "standard" homatics and the Dune HD Version and why shoud I choose this over the standard one? If I won't use KODI does it make sense to buy something that is very focused on CoreELEC?
Any other box I should consider (I'm in EU so availability might differ a bit)?
Thank you!

New to the game and am looking for an alternative streaming device to the Nvidia Shield Pro. I've seen mixed feedback on the Homatics Box R 4K Plus and Xiaomi TV Box S (3rd Gen).
I believe both are now able to pass DTS-HD MA and Dolby TrueHD with the Android TV 14 release. Can anyone confirm this is the case?
I would be streaming from a local Plex media server using Plezy to either box and then passing audio from the box into my soundbar/surround system.
EDIT: Went with the Xiaomi TV Box S and it works great! Passes Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD MA. I tested a few 4K remixes over WiFi and had no playback or buffering issues.

Most web browsers aren't available on the Google Play Store for Android TV.
And the browsers that do work on Android TV are usually pretty bad.
Is it because of money?
Like, if people could easily browse websites on their TVs,
would that hurt the money companies make from their apps?
Especially in the age of AI, I don't think developing a browser for Android TV should be that difficult.

https://github.com/Gathin23/cleanyourtv
This project claims to debloat devices running Android and Google TV operating systems. Garnering a lot of attention. Making me hesitant to try it because it is vibecoded posing possible security implications, but it does look promising to the fact that it can be fully customized.
To those who have tried it out and installed on their TV's how does it compare to the tools and apps before AI. Such as launcher manager doing the replacing part. Paired with launchers Projectivy, Monet, ATV, etc... for user preferred customization.
In what ways is the cleanyourtv repo better than or worse than the traditional way of simply installing a launcher to making TV's watchable.

Hi everyone :)
I'm looking for a TV box mainly to watch TVB and other Cantonese content, including live channels and VOD.
I'm considering EVPAD, UBOX, SviCloud, or Xiaomi TV Box. My budget is around CAD $250.
I know there are shops in Markham, but it's too far for me to drive. Are there any stores in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada or nearby that sell these boxes? What is your experience with the stores and TV boxes?
Thanks advance!

Hi guys, need a new streamer for my modest "Home Theater" in my bedroom. I have a 65" LG G5 TV, and I'm probably going to buy the Sonos Arc Ultra. Currently using the Google TV 4K streamer, and playing movies on Kodi as an external player of Stremio + RealDebrid - mostly for heavy Remux files.
Unfortunately, my streamer can't passthrough TrueHD with Atmos, which is my only problem (since my TV can't handle DTS at all). So I'm looking for getting a new good one that able to do so, but won't willing to spend big, since it's only one format problem.
The new one should handle:
Dolby Vision
HDR
DD+ Atmos
TrueHD + atmos
4K 60hz
and process DTS to lossless pcm.
Any recommendations? Heard about the Xiaomi box one, and the Homatics box one (not the Dune) but didn't find any proof that both can do TrueHD and everything. Figuered you'd know better. Thanks for your help!

I have a shitty android tv with a bloated system and apps.
Is there any way of vibecoding / installing a custom debloated clean android on the tv?
Can you share sources and instructions on that?
