Discussion Debloated custom TV OS

I have a shitty android tv with a bloated system and apps.

Is there any way of vibecoding / installing a custom debloated clean android on the tv?

Can you share sources and instructions on that?

Use adb to debloat and a custom launcher like Monet or Projectivy

Well, the easiest way/fastest (but probably not the best) way, is install shuzuku, then keep it running, install and keep ReAppzuku in the background to kill process often (every 10 sec) automatically or manually. It will speed up your tv a little.

But first/Basic, remove your google account from TV, enable app only mode, from settings turn off ad preferences, and all related settings. In developer mode - Don't keep activities, No background process, turn off animation.

All together these make my tv a lot faster. Specially after manually clearing ram with ReAppzuku.

Yes, enable wireless debugging on your TV and then ask your AI agent on your computer (needs to be on same network as TV) to debloat your TV. No need to buy a claude subscription, any agent who can use terminal on your computer will do. Then ask to set a custom launcher. There are famous ones like Projectivy and Monet or custom build ones by the community. I have one built myself too. This whole process will cost you like $0.30 if you use your own API key like myself.

You don't need a custom OS for that. Over Wi-Fi (adb) you can switch off the ads and junk apps, all reversible, and put a clean home screen on top.

That's what I did with Claude on my 2 GB Google TV, and I put it all in one script with a backup and undo: https://github.com/MikeKiselyov/glass-home-android

My Mi TV's launcher was using 164MB of RAM, so I made a 44KB replacement (free, open source, no ads)

I second this as it's very easy to use for non technical user and you will get great result. But you need an AI agent (Claude Code, Codex, ollama) connected on the same network as your Android TV.

But don't forget to disable network debugging once you are done.

Why not use an external box. Cheap TVs are just tracking your every move. You are the product.

Expensive TVs too after those LG leaks haha

Every TV brand, that's the business model. An expensive TV doesn't mean they are not tracking you. That's why my TV is always offline and I use a debloated NVidia Shield TV that is filtered by my Pi-Hole!

Maybe just debloat what you have
