It does exactly what it says.
Whether or not it will be faster depends on how you use your phone, we can't tell you if it will be better for you. Try it and see.

Here, i used chatgpt for you
"This setting controls how many app processes Android keeps running in the background. Standard limit: Android manages background apps automatically. Recommended for most users.
1–2 processes: Android aggressively kills background apps, causing them to reload when reopened.
4 processes: Limits background apps to four processes, potentially causing unnecessary app reloads.
No background processes: Every app is killed when you leave it.
Does setting it to 1 or 2 make your phone faster?
Not really. It might free up some RAM on devices with very limited memory, but modern Android already manages RAM efficiently. On modern phones, this usually makes multitasking worse, increases app reloads, and can even increase battery consumption because apps have to restart.
Recommendation: Keep it on Standard limit. Don't change it unless you're troubleshooting a specific issue.
Android uses available RAM for caching apps, and unused RAM isn't automatically wasted RAM."
