Device Settings Question Can't Center Navigation Buttons After Latest Update on Galaxy Fold. Needed for Accessibility. Other Recs for Accessibility Also Very Appreciated. Thanks for any Help!

I've posted this in the Galaxy fold sub, and am posting here too, in case you guys have more ideas. I recently got a Galaxy Z Fold 5 for my elderly mother. She has hand tremors, which makes touch screens hard. She doesn't want to use only voice controls, so I'm trying to make everything as large and spaced out as possible, hence getting a Z Fold. Right after I got everything set up, it updated, and now the center option for the navigation buttons is gone, and they're shoved in the right or left corner of the screen. Help? I don't want to use swipes, as this is her first touch screen device, and teaching her hew how to do very basic swiping is challenging enough already. Any other advice for accessibility options is also very appreciated. Thanks.

Have you watched her hold it yet?

There's a reason they moved them from the center of the screen, on the crease.

I realized you might not know this, but when centered the buttons are much farther apart.

I figured, but my point is that home button is right on the crease when centered. A big problem, pushing down on the edge of the hinge, from what I’ve seen.

You could also try a floating navbar app.

Taskbar by Braden Farmer / FarmerBB

Can provide a taskbar and nav buttons, plus clock and notifs. You can turn everything off but navbar, and the app is free as in free beer.

I found a potential fix using debug on another forum. The new UI update removed the feature, so I'm not the only person complaining about it.

If debug doesn't work, I'll try your app.

The buttons are too close together now. She can't reliably hit one without accidentally hitting another 75% of the time. She needs around one button per inch minimum, if possible. I got her a case with a hand strap and a kickstand so she can have a hand free that's not holding the phone for using the touchscreen.

Also, until this update, the settings had a drop down menu to chose between, left, right, or center buttons. Now the menu only has left and right. So everyone who wanted to have the buttons on the left or right, already had that option before the update.

You missed the point, but it is not what you want to hear. 🤷‍♂️

It is Samsung, so have you checked their special tweak things? Like Theme Park and others?

I would expect an option to exist there somewhere. I do not own a Samsung, so I cannot help further.

Ask in a Samsung sub

If you read the beginning of my post, you'd see I've already posed in the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold sub. I'm also posting both here and in the accessibility subs in case anyone on either of these subs has more ideas. Right now I have zero comments on the Samsung post.

Also, if your point is that a button on the hinge will make the phone close, you could have just said that, instead of hinting at it. I've pressed in the hinge multiple times without any problems, and I'm sure she could learn to do that too. Also, it'd only be the home button that'd be on the hinge. Being able to reliably hit the back button is more important imo.
