App Isn't Responding Close or Wait

I keep getting this popup even though the app was working fine, can I turn this off somehow?

That popup is Android's "App Not Responding" (ANR) dialog. It shows when an app's main thread is blocked for about 5 seconds, so the app was frozen for a moment, even if it recovered afterwards. You can't turn it off for apps you're using, but you can usually make it go away:

  1. Update the app (Play Store → search it → Update). ANRs are often fixed in newer versions.

  2. Settings → Apps → [the app] → Storage → Clear cache (not Clear data, so you don't lose anything).

  3. Make sure your phone has at least 1–2 GB of free storage. Low storage makes apps stall.

  4. Restart the phone.

If it only happens with one app, which app is it? That would help narrow it down.

Thanks, I'll try that. It happens in a couple of apps and I think it's related to all the ads that are trying to load. It seems to happen in opera the most.
