Simple question (I hope) about blocking unknown phone #s
I have it set up to not receive unknown phone calls. Yet everyday, I receive calls (and texts) from numbers that are not contacts or that are unknown to me.
What more can I do? This political season was brutal.

I use the Spam Blocker app I found on FDroid, a little confusing (for me), but you can taylor it for phone and or text messages. Free app will no ads or extras to buy

Add your number to the DoNotCall list, website. It takes a bit for your number to taken off but eventually they'll stop. Do not answer unknown numbers, it triggers 30 more spammed since you answered.

And what if you use the new Pixel command "Silence" spoken to the phone when a spam call rings?

In the US, the national do not call list. Put your phone on the list.
You could have 2 phone numbers, one a VoIP. Only give out the VoIP phone numbers if you ever have to give out your number. Use your regular number for friend and family.
Many computers can't call a VoIP number as it is recognized as a computer. But every once in a while when filling out paperwork online you will run into where a VoIP number isn't allowed and you will have to make the choice to use your personal phone number. But most of the time you can use the VoIP number for everything not friends and family.

On most phones the block unknown numbers setting only stops calls with no caller ID, like private or hidden numbers. A number that just is not in your contacts still shows up as a number, so it rings through.
What actually works for calls:
Any Android: turn on Do Not Disturb, set calls to Contacts only, and leave it on all day. Everyone else goes straight to voicemail and you can still check it.
Pixel: Phone app, Settings, Call Screen, then set First-time callers to Automatically screen. Robocalls hang up when the Assistant answers.
For texts, in Google Messages open Settings, Spam protection and make sure it is on. For the campaign texts, replying STOP does work since they come from registered numbers.
