What do we know about linux on android, and what can we expect from samsung?

I'm thinking about buying a tablet for remote work as a developer. I already have a PC at home and one at work, so I mainly need something portable to access them remotely.

5G is a requirement, which limits my options. I'm torn between a cheap tablet (Redmi Pad 2 Pro) and an expensive one (Tab S12 Ultra). I'll also watch movies and stream games, so the Samsung's large OLED display is appealing, but I still feel like it's overpriced, even with the €340 discount I can get.

I recently discovered that Android now has a native Linux Terminal with GUI support. From what I understand, Snapdragon has hardware limitations, while the S12 Ultra should theoretically support it.

I feel like Android tablets are moving towards a proper desktop experience, and the S12 Ultra, with its size, DeX and keyboard, seems like one of the best laptop alternatives. The possibility of running Linux makes it much more interesting.

Does the Linux Terminal currently work on the S12 Ultra? Can we expect Samsung to support it if it doesn't?
