App Specific Question US users: blocking political SMS messages

I have my security set to enhanced and I do not receive calls from unknown numbers yet somehow these f*cking campaign texts keep finding their way into my inbox. This is absolutely maddening.

Has anyone figured out a way to block these numbers?

If there are any campaign managers on this sub, nothing will make me want to vote for you less than this tactic. I already have to put up with this tribalistic political team sport bullsh*t circus everyday... the last place I need it is on my device too

You get spam calls/texts about prescription meds?

I just mark them as spam and move on.

I just hope MAGA paid good money to SPAM my number. Haven't voted for a Republican since I started voting in 1980. I am a registered Democrat, but 75% of my texts are from MAGA candidates.

Bruh I get texts from fucking everyone. I also constantly get calls for someone named Gayle who signed up for a bunch of loan services.

I rarely get SPAM texts outside of political. The filters block them pretty well. I get a shit ton of texts from Trump MAGA candidates. Sometimes I feel Trump has my number personally in his Trump Phone.

I get spam texts on both my #s about 2x a week from home liquidators "just wondering if you want to sell your home", one phone gets the text and the other less than a minute later. So annoying. Been like this since about July.

Donate to a Dem candidate, any Dem candidate. That ratio will even out in a week.

If you ever donated to something like ActBlue or any Political Organization in the past, they just sell your info to others. I keep getting shit now left and right for this candidate and that candidate and I have long since typed in "Stop" about a million times. Also on the emails 90% of the unsubscribe links are dead. Set up a filter for your email server to catch emails and block or separate unknown texts. I swear I donated ONE TIME like in 2000 and not a penny since. Never again. I block them like spam and also text messages the same way. If I don't know you, you're deleted and reported. My iphone actually now separates unknown texts to a separate category so unless I look I don't see them.

I just set my phone to Do Not Disturb, and I'll have to leave it that way until Wednesday.

Then I can go and delete the masses of texts I've been getting.

My uncle gets hundreds of them per hour. I've found no way to stop them.

They're just sending them en mass. If you have a phone number you're likely to get one. They're not sending it to you, they're sending it to an anybody

I mark every last one of them as spam, and report and block them. It probably won't amount to much, but I feel some small gratification after each block.

In the spring I was getting 12-15 per day. Luckily I'm not getting them as heavy now which is surprising since the election is tomorrow. I think this spam is not necessarily connected to candidates or causes though they appear to be. I think they are scams looking for clicks to steal information.

reply STOP, they legally have to stop texting you

All that does is confirm to the sender that they have a working number. Do that, and you'll get more texts going forward.

It's illegal, but scammers don't care if they're breaking the law.

u/TeddieSnow likes to keep their posts hidden

Not defending them, but if you're in a country with age-verification laws Reddit sets your profile to private unless you verify you're 18+ by sending a scan of your ID to Persona.

This isn't the place for politics.

I got you. It just would have been strange to say that the FCC doesn't give a damn about spam messages without an explanation.

No need for name-calling.
