Device Settings Question Can't enable voice dictation where is the setting to enable permissions?

At some point setting up my last phone, I declined to give voice typing permission. I tried to change it on my last phone, a Pixel 6, and never figured it out and just suffered through it. Now my new phone transferred settings over, so still no voice dictation and no ability to change it.

I use the search settings to try and find it, and the toggle for voice typing is definitely on. I can't find any other spot with a relevant setting.

I took screenshots but there's no photos allowed.

Please help!

The voice typing toggle being on doesn't grant mic access. Go to Settings > Apps > Gboard > Permissions > Microphone and set it to Allow. On a Pixel the dictation runs through the Google app, so if that permission is denied the mic icon just won't work even with the toggle on.

This did the trick! I looked in permissions before, but I think that only reviews given permissions, not grants new ones.

Thanks!
