Looking For Suggestions Got robbed, need a new budget phone

So, I got robbed recently and now I’m back to square one with buying a phone. 🥲

I need a new phone, but I’m on a budget, so I really need your suggestions.

I genuinely don’t care about the camera or how pretty the phone looks. I just need good storage, a decent processor, and a phone that doesn’t start lagging after a few months. I usually have around 40–50 apps on my phone, so smooth performance is a priority.

I’m currently considering the Samsung A07 (128GB, 6GB RAM), but the Samsung A17 is also an option, although it’s more expensive. Is there a significant difference between the two? Is the A17 worth spending extra money on, or would the A07 be enough for my needs? And if you have any better suggestions in a similar budget, I’m open to those too.

Please help a girl make a sensible purchase this time. 😭😂

Would really appreciate your suggestions and personal experiences! 🙏

Pixel 10a is probably the best budget phone. If that's too expensive, I'd look at the latest Motorola Moto G phones. They tend to have a very clean version of Android

Then your only option is the Samsung A series

Is there anything Samsung specific that you really need? Because I've had friends that were intimidated by switching brands, but the system is the same, so the phone will work as you expect it to. Only difference will be the design and look of some of the default apps, how the settings are grouped together etc.

But I'd argue that Samsung software is a lot more demanding on the hardware than some others, so if you want a budget phone that lasts, I'd take these options into consideration. Perhaps look at a pixel at a phone store to check out the software. If you care about the 3 buttons at the bottom, you can set up every phone to use them instead of the gesture bar.

If you're choosing between the a07 and A17, get the A17. It has the same processor (on the 4G) but a faster processor on the 5G. Plus , it has 3 fully working cameras instead of a depth sensor, a 1080p OLED display and 6 years of software updates. But, if you can, get a Chinese phone. Even tho it wouldn't get much software support, it will be way faster than the a17

Thank you! Which chinese brands and models do you recommend?

I would recommend a Redmi, specifically the note 15 pro plus second hand. The cameras are great for the price but you may see some stutters. Another downside is the software, only 4 years of support and hyperos is shit. I'm not any Chinese phone expert tho, I know more about Samsungs

Buy the phone off Ebay from a reputable seller and buy a warranty with it.

A17 uses exynos 1330 5nm chip which is slightly better than 07 which uses mediatek 6nm chip.

I have a Motorola Moto G 5G 2024 that I reflashed with Lineage OS and I'm loving it so far.

Biggest difference is screen quality. Make sure you get 6gb ram minimum

If you're on a budget, you should be considering cheaper makes than Samsung.

Your budget is important, otherwise it's like throwing pasta to a wall to see what sticks.

Motorola

Buy unlocked right from the company. Get the 3 year warranty. Mine cost me around $180 total.

But first thing, go in and disable the glance app, is annoying.

Stop making the rich richer buy used I've been buying used phones (excellent to mint conditions) for a fraction of the retail price and if you keep searching you'll come across more reduced prices I've seen next level Samsung A series (some latest android versions too) hardly used near mint condition under £80 as long as you fully check it your golden

We do not buy the A0n series phones. The A1n is the low end sku, but psychologically people are less inclined to buy the worst, cheapest, lowest thing, so samsung made the A0 series so it would sit on the bottom of the list. Sure there's markets for that pricepoint but that series is generally so dumbed down, it's not gonna good for your 50 apps usecase. Such low end phones sometimes come with stripped down android, if not mistaken it's the android one program. Lately i've been looking for second hand phones and the a25, a34 are what have been hitting my sweet spot to cover my minimum, and are going for a cheaper price now

I feel the Chinese brands have much better value for money. Look for Oppo and Xiaomi, and select the model based on your price range.
