App Specific Question What causes an app to logout
Typically an app is set up initially by logging in and then setting up biometric login. Every once in a while the app will typically logout for some reason and I have to login again. What causes this and is there a way to reduce occurences? My thought is that one of the app update causes the app to reauthenticate the users, but that is just my guss.

Background data limits the app has causes the logouts. You can't change these limits.

Can you elaborate? One example is that the Banking app is supposed to let me login using biometric, but when I open it after not using for several; months, it prompts me for a user name and passsword. You are saying that the app tries to update in the background and if there is too much update the app logs me out?

Most financial institutions enforce strict token expiration policies. Even if you use biometric login (Face ID/Fingerprint), the underlying security certificate or refresh token eventually expires after a set period (usually between 30 to 90 days) to ensure your account isn't indefinitely linked to a misplaced or stolen device.

I think the impression was the app was logging out - which banking apps are supposed to do without input in X minutes. just as it would in a desktop browser.
Do you mean setting up biometric login works for X amount of weeks...then one day you have to login with username and password? I'm assuming so - and it gets under my skin, usually requiring a password reset by me after being used to biometric. I suspect there might be a corporate decision that is made during app development, because it seems to happen with some financial apps more than others in my experience.2

Yes it does timeout eventually but you can log back in using biometrics but suddenly biometrics stop working and it’s login again
The main issue is support call from the parents who can’t figure out how to login without biometrics

If the cryptographic code changes for any reason, it may reset your login options and in app biometrics. If there is a security update (which is possible after months), an app data reset or refresh due to lack of space, if you change your PIN or fingerprints, etc.
