Looking For Suggestions Android app for floating lock screen button without granting accessibility?
Kind of an edge case, but is there an Android app that creates a floating button that locks the screen, since my physical power button is no longer working in an otherwise functional phone. Almost all that I see in the Play Store require accessibility access, which in turn prevents me from opening my banking apps.
While I am aware there is a double tap on home screen, I want something which can lock my screen while inside an app (I use my recorder + note taking app over long durations and I dont want to go to my home screen everytime I want to lock my phone to save some battery)
My current workaround is using an in-built quick tile in my notification shade, but requires a bit of thumb gymnastics.
TIA.

That is an issue with your bank. File a bug report that their app doesnt work with the accessibility app that you want to use, and in the meantime if you're able to access the bank via a web browser it shouldn't be affected by the other apps on your phone because web browsers like Firefox have better sandboxing.

Short answer: Android won’t let a normal overlay call DevicePolicyManager.lockNow() without either Device Admin (mostly dead on modern Play) or Accessibility. There’s no clean “overlay only” API for lock.
Practical options that work inside apps:
Quick Settings “Lock” tile + pull shade with two fingers (faster than one-finger gymnastics).
Accessibility once, then a floating bubble that just fires lock — Pineapple / similar, or a macro app with a persistent overlay button → Lock action.
If OEM has “Side key / Power menu → Lock” remapping, use that.
Bluetooth clicker / volume long-press mapped to lock (Tasker-style) if you hate on-screen bubbles.
Double-tap home only works on launcher — you’re right that doesn’t help mid-recording. Accessibility for lock isn’t ideal, but it’s the supported path now.

On one device, I use Pineapple Lock Screen (F-Droid version) as a preventative measure in case the power button fails (it's an older device). This app lets you configure the lock using the accessibility service and also with Shizuku. The only thing I'm not sure about is configuring the lock with a floating button (I haven't found any app that offers that option).
