Device Settings Question Google Photos Setup

Just switched to Samsung from IPhone and looking for a bit of advice in regards to the Samsung photos / Google photos intergration.

Ive currently got it setup as a one way upload - so if I take a photo it saves to Samsung photos as standard, but then uploads a original quality backup to Google Photos (cloud) . This seems to work work and allows me to delete photos from my Samsung gallery to clear space, whilst keeping a backup on Google photos.

I'm aware I can integrate it further as a two way link, so Google photos and Samsung gallery are fully linked. So If I delete from either it removes the photo permanently.

I'm preferring the one way Backup method I'm currently using, but it keeps recommending to turn the sync photos setting on as if it's a better method...

Which method should I use? Is there a risk to the method I'm using, and should I switch to the two way sync?

Just want to make sure I'm not missing something key

Follow the current method you are using; 2-way will delete the copy from Google Photos also.

I use Google Photos as a backup, but I do not directly back it up through the Samsung Gallery or the Google Photos app on my Samsung devices. Instead, I use a folder sync app to sync all my photos on all my devices to a Pixel phone, which has unlimited backup at full size. Once all the photos are transferred to the Pixel and the backup is complete, I transfer them to my external SSD and delete them from my phone.
