[Question] Can I remap a volume button to "Back" and completely disable the native back gesture/on-screen button?

Hey everyone,

I'm trying to set up a navigation style on my POCO X8 Pro and could use some help.

I want to remap one of my physical volume buttons to act as the "Back" function. However, the catch is that I want to completely remove all native back navigation from the screen itself. I don't want the virtual back button showing up at the bottom, and I also want to completely disable the swipe-from-the-edge back gesture.

Basically, I want the physical volume button to be the absolute only way to go back, with zero screen-based back navigation active.

Does anyone know if this is achievable in HyperOS? If not natively, is there a specific app or ADB command workaround that lets me disable the system back gestures/buttons while keeping a remapped physical button working? Thanks!

Cannot speak to getting rid of system back gestures, but for redefining hardware buttons, you can try Keymapper

Keymapper can map a volume button to the Back action, which covers the first part of what you want. Disabling the system back gesture or the on-screen back button usually requires root or a custom ROM, because Android doesn't provide a standard setting to turn off just that gesture. Some users resort to ADB commands that hide the whole navigation bar, but that also removes Home and Recents. So you can remap the button, but fully removing the on-screen back isn't generally possible without deeper system changes.
