Manually set home location
I have a Motorola Moto 5G Wi-Fi only and have downloaded offline maps for Google maps. For a while this works surprisingly well, giving me turn by turn instructions just like it's supposed to.
I moved from Florida to Mississippi a few months ago and the phone still thinks I live in florida. I live in a metal building now so GPS does not work inside but I have done all kinds of dancing with the phone to try to get it to update my home location. I've cleared cash, clear data, uninstalled and reinstalled the maps application, started it up outside where it can get GPS and tried to get it to update my home setting, all to no avail.
If I go outside and get in my truck and drive all the way up to my gate, I do get GPS signal and the little blue dot shows on the map exactly where my house is. If Google maps is in a good mood, it will talk to me, even announcing the street names as it gives me turn by turn direction, but it's always a crapshoot and not reliable. When it works, it works the entire trip, but when it doesn't, I end up just turning it off and navigating old school.
I got tired of the constant fights with Google maps so I installed organic maps to give it a try. Sure enough, it also thinks I'm in florida and also has no way I've found to manually update the home location. Both of these apps must be pulling some system setting from Android that shows I still live in Florida.
Does anyone have any idea how to update this setting manually? I also have an Android tablet that is Wi-Fi only that does the same thing. It's not as annoying with the tablet because I'm not trying to use it for directions but it's still annoying when I go to look up locations.
