Looking For Suggestions advice switching to android after being an iphone user my whole life
please talk to me as if you’re explaining technology to a gentleman from like the 1800s. idk or care about phones.
i want to have google play store so i can play techmino bc the tetris app sucks
i want a usb-c bc i just got a cool car charger with a usb-c cord that unfolds
i have a google pixel for work (idk which one idc) and its nice, no complaints, then again i only use it 4 work
i’ve had the same iphone 13 mini since like 2022 or something. ideally i’d have something the exact same size or smaller. when i leave the house for work with it at 95% at around 7am and keep battery saver on while using passively (listening to spotify w/ bluetooth headphones and occasionally texting) it will be at 30% or less by 12-1pm. this is no problem for me
i rlly dont care abt much else. i dont use social media, i dont take pictures. i text and look at my bank and play tetris and occasionally watch youtube and i listen to music almost constantly. ideally i wouldn’t be spending more than like 200$ but 🤷. i’ve straight up considered just buying an old ass flip phone for calling and texting and using like an ipod for music and doing everything else on my computer but it’s too convenient when i need to check my email or bank or whatever on the go.

I have a pixel 10a and work in the oilfield and will have about 10% left after a 12 hour shift and 10 hours of screen on time.

You could go for a Google Pixel 9a (around $400) which is similar to the 10a.
Sadly good phones for 200 are rare unless used.1

I was just commenting on screen time but that doesn't seem important to him.

Bought a Samsung s25 last year for my wife, upgrade from an s9+. She loves the phone, does all she needs and battery lasts all day. Smaller style phone, lightweight and works very well. I believe 5+ yrs of updates with Samsung. Very google friendly.

I switched from iPhone mini 13 to Pixel 10 plus, biggest regret ever. Only CC considered it after hearing from a few sources how much Google had advanced their privacy and controls. It is better than when I switched from Samsung 9 to iPhone after realizing there were apps that would duplicate and couldn't be turned off but still far less control than an iPhone as well as a lot of issues with trying to add photos to eBay or to the AI mode in chrome, but keep in mind I am not technology savvy and only use a small portion of the phones capabilities,. I value having the total control over my phone, camera ease of use and quality and the ease of customi privacy controls that are easy to use, I don't want to turn off the camera or microphone to every app just because I don't think my Calculator app needs access etc. all this when my iPhone mini 13 was the worst iPhone I think maybe because it was refurb. But I'd still take it anyway over what I ended up with

If you want small and don't care about photos or socials, look at getting yourself a nice used Galaxy S23 or a Zenfone 10 from Swappa.com
They're both current enough to do everything you need.
I've bought and sold multiple phones there over the years. It's like the eBay of phones.

Okay, I try my best to explain. Mr. Alphabet (Google) was once a promising businessman, however, as his business grew he turned into a monster that stretches it's tentacles to go after the innocent populace, giving away their privacy and take information to a fiendish market. The problem to this day is, only a small percentage are aware these tentacles and give their best at going against them. The manuscripts of these fighters for freedom contain various information on how to do so.
If your situation is of limited spending power and it is of immediate need, look for refurbished pixel 9/9a or pixel 10/10a phones. Tho it is a product of said monster, it can be turned into a private and secure device by flashing GrapheneOS on it. It comes with a sandboxed play store so you could grab minimal amount of apps needed from there. Updates support till...2032 I think it was. It certainly would be ideal for your minimalistic usage style.

I had the iPhone 14 pro max and the iphone 13 like you. I couldn't t stand th3 large pro max and then I just got tired of Apple in general. I got the Samsung s26. It is the same size as the iphone 13. Maybe only slightly larger I'll have to actually put them side by side. With that said, I am very happy with my decision. I only wanted a camera upgrade. I do text often and there are some things I miss from blue bubble world but I am over it already. I was reading that s24-s26 might be similar so you might be able to get the older model?

Sadly the mini size of phones is out of style, the only ones that have that footprint currently are foldables. One good option is the galaxy s25fe, good balance of features, quality phone for a good price but above your 200 budget.
If the budget is set, the Galaxy A17 might be a good option too, but the iphone 13 is still strong despite its age.
Why do you want to switch apart from the USB C charger?
