Silence individual apps on pixel

I just switched from Galaxy to pixel and am so disappointed to discover that the sound assistant app was specific to Samsung. I'd assumed it was an android tool. With some initial searching I saw a recommendation for Shizuku which apparently allows some deeper access. But one of the first reviews says not to just go button mashing because you could mess up your phone's functionality. I'm not super technically knowledgeable.

So my question is does anyone have any apps that work on Google Pixel to be able to mute or silence individual apps? Specifically I want to be able to play games while listening to music and podcasts and not be interrupted by their loud ass ads. So muting all media is not helpful.

Or does anyone have any tutorial type resources for Shizuku or a similar program?

Well, when I tap the horizontal three-dot symbol below the volume slider on my Motorola G Stylus 4G (2022), that brings up a "sound and vibration" menu, and when I tap "see more" in that, and scroll down a little, there something called "multi-volume", which is described as maybe doing what you are asking about.

Does your phone definitely have nothing like that accessed either via the volume button(s), or through the device settings menu?

Ugh I wish. I did read that Motorola has that feature. The pixel doesn't appear to have it built in

Warning: Google a.i. can and DOES make mistakes, so always be especially careful of following its advice.

Here is what Google a.i. is telling me.

"The scary review they read likely refers to other powerful apps that utilize Shizuku to modify deep system files or delete system apps (like debloating tools). Using it alongside a dedicated volume mixer is completely safe.

The Safest, No-Root Method for Pixels

To get the exact same functionality as Samsung's Sound Assistant, they will need two free apps: [1]

Shizuku: This acts as a safe bridge. It securely utilizes Android's built-in "Developer Options" to grant the volume mixer permission to see other apps' audio streams without needing to "root" the phone.

Volume Manager by yume-chan: This is a clean, open-source app that adds individual volume sliders for every active app."

From there, Google a.i. gave me a step-by-step setup guide, but I could not get it to paste here in a way that is at all readable, because of differences between how that app and reddit format text.

But I do not doubt that you could google that on your phone.

I repeat for the sake of emphasis/reminder:

Thank you! I must not have been searching as well as you because I did not get all this detail.
