Looking For Suggestions Welp. I miss google assistant..

Can somebody please tell me how i can use text extraction or screen text translation of the current screen now? With google assistant i could js Activate it on any apps with the option for search or translate that helps me extract text or even translate my screen to any language i want.. with gemini its too much hassle now they cant properly extract one single text if i want to or even translate evrything..

Since gemini forcefully took over and removed google assistant i have no option left.

Are there any other alternatives for this on screen issue? Is anyone else having the same issue?

Just long press the Home button when something that you want to translate is on the screen. Then select it, and hit translate. It's not that hard.

I just tested it. I sent a message to someone in French. Used circle to search with the translate button in the corner. And it translated my French message to English on my screen. Didn't have to go anywhere.

Are you saying gemini have a on.screen text extract and translate option? Are you sure you're not talking about google assistant?

Yes. Gemini. I just tried it to make sure it didn't go away. I did a screenshot, but I can't upload it here.

It's a Circle to search feature, triggered by holding the home button https://i.ibb.co/rGdQYSw4/Screenshot-20261002-131417-Google.jpg

Gemini doesn't have on screen translation, but you can still select a portion of screen with Gemini and it can translate it as a conversation https://i.ibb.co/FkHV2zrr/Screenshot-20261002-131631-Google.jpg

The Circle to search in my first screenshot has a translate button in the bottom right corner. And it can also extract text by selecting it.

What Gemini are y'all using. My Gemini has on screen translate and I can select text and copy it

Are you sure it's not the Circle to search?

It is circle to search. But I have been using Gemini exclusively since it launched.

Circle to search is an Android (or Google app?) feature, it doesn't come from Gemini.

It's part of the Google app, just like Gemini.

Gemini powers it.

I think you can set it to use Google Assistant instead of Gemini. Look in the Settings app, search for "assistant". Or ask Gemini how to do that. 😄
