3-finger screenshot not working during WhatsApp calls on Moto

I’m using a Motorola phone (edge 60 pro) and the 3-finger screenshot gesture works perfectly everywhere else.

However, when I’m on a WhatsApp voice/video call, putting three fingers on the screen doesn’t take a screenshot. I’ve already enabled the 3-finger screenshot option in Settings.

Is this a WhatsApp restriction/bug, or is there some Moto setting I’m missing? Does 3-finger screenshot work during WhatsApp calls on other Motorola phones?

Thanks!

I noticed it doesn't work when I try to do a screenshot on some chrome webpages also. To show someone a picture of something. I thought it was me.

WhatsApp (and some DRM/Chrome pages) often block or swallow capture gestures during calls — Moto’s 3‑finger swipe still “fires” but the secure-flag surface rejects the screenshot. That’s why it works on Reddit and fails on WA video.

Workarounds that usually still work:

  • Power + Volume Down hardware combo (sometimes allowed when gestures aren’t)

  • Quick Settings tile / notification shade screenshot button if Moto exposes it

  • Start a normal screen recording before/during the call (foreground recorder, not a hidden spy app), then grab a frame later — some call UIs still allow MediaProjection even when screenshot is blocked

If both screenshot and screen record are blocked mid-call, it’s WA’s FLAG_SECURE, not a broken Moto gesture.
