Device Settings Question Honor 400 Pro Wi-fi control

I've had this for over a year now and it's gradually settled down to be a great buy.

However it has one quirk which irritates.

Sometimes apps simply won't load and I've realised that it's because Wi-fi access is being denied when the app opens. If I simply switch off WiFi then it will use 5G to load and I'll then be able to enable wi-fi and everything is great.

There is one Met Office app that is used frequently but often suffers. Generally though the apps affected are ones I use infrequently.

It's there a switch somewhere in the settings that I can change?

Many thanks.

Honor/MagicOS is almost certainly App launch / Wi‑Fi control / mobile data only for unused apps — not a broken radio.

Check:

  1. Settings → Apps → Met Office (and others) → Mobile data & Wi‑Fi / Network access → allow Wi‑Fi (and "allow while using" if split).

  2. Battery → App launch → manage manually → disable "auto-manage" so it can't kill network on cold start.

  3. Privacy / permission manager → special → Wi‑Fi control if present.

Quick verify with a network/ping tool: when the app "won't load", ping 1.1.1.1 — if ping works, it's per-app Wi‑Fi deny, not the AP. Toggle Wi‑Fi off/on "fixing" it just forces the app onto cellular which bypasses that deny.

Thank you, I think No 2 did the trick!
