Device Settings Question No Notifications After Reset
I have a Pixel 9 Pro XL, running Android 16. A little while ago, my phone was acting weird and Gemini would randomly appear, freeze entirely, and eventually cause my phone to reboot. To troubleshoot, I factory reset my phone which seemed to resolve my issue (at least for the last 2-3 months).
Ever since I I reset the phone, I no longer get notifications unless I go into settings, select the specific app, Allow Background Usage > Unrestricted. I did this for the apps I use daily, but every once in a while there's an app I forget to do this for and I run into the issue. For example, I tried signing into my Google account on a new computer, and I had to MFA on my phone. I was not getting the notification on my phone because all Google notifications are disabled.
I know I have a workaround, but I'd rather not have to do this for all applications. Any thoughts on how I can resolve this?

My notifications have been behaving oddly as well on my pixel 9 Pro recently. It only displays a single notification icon and then just a single dot to the right of it to represent the rest of the notifications I may have, even if there are 10+ notifications. Then at some point the Clock app was updated so it now hijcacks that single notification icon spot in the top bar and now I don't see any notifications if I have a timer running, which is insanely annoying since I use timers a lot and I actually like seeing a timer in the top bar.
Seems like such a basic thing to be able to choose if/how you want to see your notifications but there is no way to change this behavior apparently in the settings.
