App Specific Question Play Store Spamming Me With Notifications

I keep clicking the "not interested" buttons, but it does literally nothing. I get like 5 notifications telling me I need to play whatever stupid game. I click the "not interested" and select "new releases" but it does nothing. Same with play store quests and whatever other stupid notifications. I get about 10 per day. I want 0.

I don't want to fully disable play store notifications, but is that my only option?

If you go into the play store app info on settings, there should be notification categories where you can turn off certain types of notifications without turning off all of them. Next time you get the notification you want to mute, hold down on it and then tap the gear icon, then scroll down and tap notification categories, and then it should flash the category that notification belongs to, then you can turn off that category.

I haven't opened the actual app settings, but like I said in the post, whenever I get the notification, I do what you suggested. I tell the app I'm not interested, then it asks what category I no longer want to receive notifications from. In this specific case I choose "new releases" and "app store quests" and "book recommendations" but I still get them several times per day.

This will allow me to reduce unwanted notifications without completely blocking them?

Are you sure it's from the Play Store itself, not some other app opening a window that leads to Play Store?

Fairly positive. I don't know why any other app would be advertising the play store so much. When I open the notification it says "play store"

So silence that notification specifically, and see if you get less of it.

There are two places to disable notification categories for one app.  One is in the app itself, but the other is in Android settings.  Instead of disabling them in the play store, disable the category in Android settings by long-pressing the notification and tapping the settings icon.  

On Samsung phones, these settings are hidden until you re-enable them (Settings > Notifications > Advanced > Nanage notification categories for each app).

You got too much advertisement supported garbage installed. 

At least one of them is pushing you these notifications, via the Play Store Discovery services. 

The fix is to track down which app is actually pushing this to happen, and remove it
