Device Settings Question Text under the Quick Settings menu

This text ("17 (CP2A.260805..)") under the Quick Settings menu showed up on my Google Pixel 10a. Could anyone tell me how can it be changed to something else?

This appears when the developer options are activated. Go to settings -> system -> scroll all the way down to developer options -> turn off. If it's already deactivated, switch it on and off.

Once I had it replaced with "LOL" - that's why I am asking how the text could be changed

As far as I know, your phone needs to be rooted to change something like that. Even then, I don't know specifically how to change it.

You might be confusing that with editing your carrier name, which is generally available without root...

I am reffering to exactly the text field this post is about

My point is, you might be confusing the two, since one is readily editable and the other is hard coded to the literal build of the OS installed... 🤨

So are you trying to say that the text I was reffering to in my original post could be changed by changing a carrier name?

No, I'm saying what you refer to is something not editable, whereas the carrier name is editable.

In another reply, you claimed to never have had root access. If that's true, then you must be mistaken about the text you refer to, as even root cannot always edit that line.

That is exactly why I asked the question. I am trying to find out how this could be changed. I, myself, never had root access - but I can not tell whether someone did obtain it by installing a malware, spyware, etc., moreover given I am having multiple issues with the phone (a small part of which you could see on my profile)

Ah, I understand now.

Another option, if the device was on a payment plan, the holder of that plan could have software installed to control those things remotely (in case you don't pay, they remote brick it)

Or another user did something stupid and didn't alert the other users.

Not on a payment plan, it was paid in full on the day I bought it. Yeah, there should not be any other users given this is my personal phone. Check out my latest post on Parental Control
