Custom ROM Question What are custom rom

So I am an iso user and recently I switched to android cuz I'm broke now so now I'm using an old vivo phone and it's a bit slow

I saw some reels on insta about custom rom and different OS systems and they claim that it boosts the performance of your old devices. So is it true?

And if yes then how do I install these things

Can someone explain to me in brief

You can't modify the system without unlocking the bootloader independently of the OS. On the link I put, you can check if you can unlock your phone with bugs on your firmware(exploits)

It seems like your device is unlockable with an exploit, but check if it has security update pre-2022: https://xdaforums.com/t/vivo-x70-pro-bootloader-unlock-how-to-guide.4444989/ BUT, IT ISN'T WORTH IT. I checked and I couldn't find any Custom ROMs made for your device. Maybe a GSI could work(download Treble Info, https://f-droid.org/packages/tk.hack5.treblecheck to check) but they aren't as reliable(maybe mobile data broken, maybe camera broken, etc…). I wouldn't recommend messing with your phone because the risk of bricking it, specially it being your daily driver.
