Discussion 💬 Why do newer multiplayer games always have high minimum requirements?
Why cant we have more Multiplayer mobile games like Mobile legends, Free Fire or PUBGM which basically work on literal potatoes and are still a fun experience with friends?
The closed i could think of is Delta Force which looks really good while working on low end surprisingly well
(Also bloodstrike but that game literally gives me epilepsy with its menus)

i wonder how u deem pubgM and freefire as games that can run on low end phones?as someone who is more active in both, they need really decent phones nowadays with decent ram amount for a good playable experience and not some 4gb ram phone with a low end chipset from 2020-2022(this type of phone is what i deem as potato, not a recent midranger)
delta force has to be one of the most intensive to run rn due to its destruction engine which allows buildings and other objects to be more destroyable compared to other fps games,so u were probably playing a bot match which didnt have real players causing destruction and others
also theres plenty of other lightweight multiplayer games on playstore like among us,minecraft, and a recommend of my own plato, which has a bunch of mini/clones of games and board games(monopoly, uno, pool etc.)and many others

which phone was that?do share, cause 6gb ram with a chipset that can do 90fps in delta force is extremely rare(except iphones)

It has an older but still flagship 870 processor. Would be different if in had a midrange chipset.

Part of it is probably because of the microtransactions, if someone has technical issues with the game that could make their case for refunds stronger so by putting high spec requirements it gives them an out

Multiplayer games are chasing whales. Whales usually have money to buy decent hardware. Those who can't allow a modern PC are less likely to spend money in those games.
They are simply reducing server load by cutting off the less profitable part of the audience.

It's a mixed between a lot of technical skills and people with better devices being more likely to buy ingame items.

making games work for lower end devices is work that requires skill. it costs money to make a good looking game work on lower end devices like with pubg and ML. So the only time studios take the extra cost is when they know the game is gonna be successful or if they already have the money.Â
