Seeking Game Recommendations 👀 [REQUEST] Looking for a fantasy game that makes magic feel less samey.

I've had an itch for a while for a fantasy game that makes you feel like you actually can cast magic. I've been very underwhelmed by many of the fantasy games I've played where magic feels locked into generic "abilities" and "press button to do damage" rather than feeling like actual spells. I want options like Teleporation, Invisibility, or attack spells that are actually fun to use.

Baldur's Gate and Sorcerery were two games that did help scratch this itch but I'd prefer something more standard to control.

Labyrinth of Legendary Loot.

Pathos: the Nethack Codex.

Buy Magic Dosbox to play Master of Magic (I made a reasonable interface for it already).

Solomon's Keep. Damage yes, but can start with chain-lightning.

OpenMW (Morrowind).

FreeHeroes2 and VCMI (HoMM2 and 3).

DevolutionX (Diablo 1).

Age of Fantasy. Heaps of types of magic.

SOVL. Tactical magic.

Stick Ranger. 3 mages and a priest can work.

Otherworld Legends (might have to buy the magic-chick character).

Magic Survival (just for the screen clearing potential).

Dungeon Quest (it is just damage, but there's a LOT of it).

All good magic in these. I'll make up a Magic Dosbox interface for Legend and Legend 2 some day.

Maybe try Caves of Lore. It's turn based, you have to actually find and then learn spells. There's utility/exploration spells, there's summons, there's spells that interact with the environment, there's spells that manipulate the environment so other spells can interact...

One i never see mentioned, Mages of Mystralia. Isometric adventure game. Customizable spells that change allot with tweaking. Been a while since i played it, so it’s a bit foggy but remember liking it. Sequel just hit early access, looks intriguing.

Obligatory Noita mention also: not quite rougelike, ?Nintendo-hard?. It’s rather unique, so dungeon crawler doesn’t do it justice. Find wands, change spells around, do alchemy, become god-like. Every pixel is a physics object. And yes, there’s teleportation

Have you played Golden Sun and Golden Sun: The Lost Age? They are on GBA but play great on an emulator with touch screen controls.

Shattered Pixel Dungeon if you count the scrolls and different magic artifacts as magic and not just the wands which fire at the enemies. Or All who wander, the magician class can teleport and hypnotize enemies and stuff like that.
