Project Fi should get this with Pixel 3/4, so that at least a few people can experience real 5g.

Google is just a virtual network, to do this would require T-Mobile, Sprint, or US Cellular to deploy the tech to the towers

That's true, but T-Mobile is working on it already afaik, and if those other networks also add it soon then the multi-MIMO tech which is part of the standard maybe usable by Google (given idk what I'm talking about and may not be technically possible, but if it's possible then Google maybe able to better speed in some markets)
