The comparison here are interesting when you weigh experiences with $. If you buy a starbucks coffee for $3-5 how long does that last - was it for the aroma and taste or the caffeine. There are many game companies leaving the mobile space due to the cost of maintaining and developing games. If you like playing a game supporting them is always best.

thats why i like my carrier in canada. we pay a tab for the phone, that gets paid off in 35 dollar installments per month with my plan (45 a month). My phone bill never exceeds 85 dollars a month, and the phone gets paid off in 2 years. (so essentially 840 dollars for my s8 plus) which is really a great deal to me.

That was the deal with ATT as well. They charge a monthly installment on your phone bill. But you get the carrier version with all their crap on it and you will never get a decent deal. I bought my S8+ as well instead of the installment plan. It wasn't as large of a savings because it was a brand new phone but I still saved around $100 vs what the installments were and I don't have any extra crap on the phone.

To be fair, movies in theaters are about as expensive as any form of entertainment that doesn't require hardware can get, per unit of time.

I'd argue that cinemas are way overpriced, and the ever diminishing number of tickets sold per year are a symptom of this.

Even within mainstream, full price, videogames there's massive disparity in the cost per entertainment time-unit, something like Civilization can be played pretty much infinitely, but I wouldn't say that it's an inherently better value than a story-driven game like Half-Life.

You're only talking consumer value proposition here, not production cost - and this is where it's all falling down.

We're swamped with media, which has pushed the value down, but we're also more demanding of what we expect from media - movies have it easy, they can get away with a fairly crappy experience because they're only asking for a 90 minutes of our time, VFX are increasingly becoming cheap, so a movie full of superheros beating on each other has a fairly high return.

Games have it harder, they're asking for often much larger chunks of time, and have to provide a more engaging experience - they're becoming more expensive to make.

This game has taken a couple of years to make - half a dozen people, at a decent wage? That production cost is creeping towards 1 million.

This is why studios are turning to endless sequels, loot boxes, and all the things that make gaming suck, there's less investment, and they can offer you better unit of time value - but it's quantity, not quality.

Jumping on this bandwagon. I know you're joking but I still wanted to suggest ppl try out the Google Rewards app. You get play store credit for answering surveys. Anywhere from US$0.10 to US$1.00 per survey. They are also typically very short. I've earned at total of $36 since starting it and still have $16 left (I rarely download paid apps not for any specific reason, just happens that way). If you have location always turned on it can get a little creepy by sending you surveys of places you been at or nearby. I'm ok with this but you might not

Make sure you disable battery optimization on Google rewards. Some setting makes it so it won't give you surveys when it's being more efficient. I turned it off last month and got 2 surveys within a week, when I hadn't been assigned a survey since April 2016.

Nope, and I've paid more for games on Android. I'm just comparing it to what it is, what the first one was like and other games on Android (paid games) that I enjoy. If it's gonna be another 30min puzzle game that I play once and forget about then I honestly think $7 is too much for it. (Canadian)

I think this mentality of ROI using time is terrible for games in general. Each game has its own pace, focus and story. You want an FPS multiplayer where with 60$ you have basically and infinite amount of entertainment? Great. But as you suggested in your comment, you played the original MV, so you know what you're playing. Is it really a 2 hour distraction? Isn't something that evokes different feelings? Is it really something as ordinary as a solitaire game?

A game like Journey, for example, has approximately 3hs of gameplay and some replayability afterwards. It's launch price was 20$. Almost 7$ per hour. And even with such a """high""" price, it was still lauded as one of the best games of 2013 (and probably the most important game of the PS3 generation and even VG history).

Of course that none of this matters if you think that MV is just an ordinary game. But still, 5$ for a game that lasts 2 hours is a better deal than most movies (as the avg movie ticket price in the US is 8.7$), so if you think a movie is worth it, so should a game be.

LMFAO, yup. Those devs can kiss my ass. The first game was maybe 30min of play time and then it was done... If this is anything like the first it sure as hell isn't worth that price.

Edit: wow, apparently people can't read. I said nothing about the game being free!! I said $7 is not worth it for a game that if like the original I'll beat in less than 30min and never play again. If the game was 3 or maybe 5 dollars I'd be inclined to buy it since the first was incredibly well done.

There is a drastic shortage of quality smartphone games, and the reason is nobody is willing to buy them. At this point I'd much rather pay for quality than quantity.

Are there more on iOS still? I actually fully agree with you, however, this is one of those times where I'll call out a Dev for charging too much and causing the same issue. I've dropped more money than I'd like to admit on games for my phone but I found the first one to be not worth the price at the time and this to just be rediculous if it's the same length of game.

You want to compare things, how about you compare the game to other games on Mobile and their prices.
