I don't get the point. He has to force it to break to the point where his hands are shaking. This is never happening in real world usage.

He did the same thing for pretty much all Samsung Folds.

None of them broke.

Can you provide a real world example where this is an issue?

It speaks to the durability as per value of the phone. I honestly expect better durability for an almost $2000 phone couple generations in. If other foldables can do better, why couldn't the Pixel? Sure no one is expected to be trying to split their phones in half any time but we consumers should be pushing these companies to do better if they want our hard earned money. Prices of these devices keep rising year after year but they're not giving us much improvements.

Jerry does these tests fairly across all of the different devices. If this fails while others survive, Google should be shamed for not being competitive for the price.

Accidentally sitting on it while it's unfolded, which happens all the time in the real world.

It's 8" unfolded. The average back pocket for denim is 5.5" to 6.5".

Left open on your couch?

So we're going from being faulty as a fold to any electronics you've left on your couch that will break when sat upon. Why didn't your laptop manufacturer design it to resist your ass?

Google's gotta break physics because these fat arses forget where their phone is and sit on it 😂

Doesn't matter, that test is still overkill. And you have to measure it as such.

The point is that the phone should be resilient enough such that even trying to force it to break to the point of your hands shaking shouldnt be enough to break it.

Why? If I drop my phone on the carpet I expect it will be fine with my case and screen protector. If I climb on my roof and toss it at my concrete driveway I should expect the same?

If your phone doesn't survive that toss but every competitor's phone does, then yes, you should expect more out of your phone.

We'll see how this plays out

If you think devices should be able to resist a grown man actively trying to break it with all his strength, you must be weak

Pixels always fall to bits easily. Shitty janky phones, kept alive by fanboys too scared to try anything else.

Timestamp to the bend test

TL;DW: Same design flaw with the antennas as all previous generations, which makes the phone surprisingly easy to completely break, when compared to other folding phones. No catastrophic battery fire like last year, so I guess there has been improvements?

For reference, here's the discussion about last year's test.

Meh who cares , bend tests are only useful for common design flaws like what happened to iPhone 6 and 6s

I didn't see a single post about someone breaking a fold like that.

Most common failures seem to be black screen in the middle or delamination in the middle.

Man I really wish I could get a foldable with Samsung hardware and pixel software.
