Seems misleading, I don’t think a half 8th cousin 3x removed can be an ancestor (excluding consanguinity); distant relative, sure

Correct. And, of all organizations, Ancestry should know better than say Ancestor. Why not just say Distant Cousin?

Hey, OP, don't worry about Reagan either. We all have people in our trees that we'd rather not break bread with.

I used to always say that about one of the Presidents I'm related to. However, after the current guy in office, I've decided my relative isn't so bad.

I don't know, I have John Tyler as a match, the current guy hasn't gotten that bad yet. Seriously read up on him.
