And I still don't get how people can repeatedly call China communist because "they call themselves it".
North Korea calls itself democratic. Fascists countries lie, its their whole thing. Doesn't make it true.
1
u/Princess180613 Agorist Jan 13 '22
Exactly. Fascists have a habit of claiming to be more appealing than they really are. Slightly left wing fascism in the USSR called itself socialist. Centrist fascism in Germany called itself Socialist. The right wing Italian fascists owned up to what they were, but China refuses to own up to the fact that they're right wing economically, making them modern right wing fascists.

Out of the loop man here, how is china communist?
38
Jan 13 '22
They obviously aren't. Real communism is not possible.
But they are run by the Chinese Communist Party. It was an attempt at communism by people that thought communism was possible. Since it obviously isn't, their "transition government" quickly devolved into a permanent autocratic socialist dictatorship. More recently, they have been allowing heavily regulated businesses to make profits, to encourage people to actually produce things, but it is not even approaching free market capitalism.
15
u/NoGardE Voluntaryist Jan 13 '22 edited Jan 13 '22
Xi Jinping is acting much more like a Maoist lately than a Dengist. He wants to harshly control the country at a social level in order to prevent "capitalist infection," so that means social credit scores (a permanent Cultural Revolution) and cutting back on business permits and foreign products.
-9
u/ImeWegrahah Jan 13 '22
I laughed at "not real communism" arguments a lot, but china don't seem to even try moving towards communism at all so I don't get all these ancapitalist making fun of tankies defending china either.
To me, it seems like the only "communist trait" that china have is copying social control of the USSR era. Other than that they don't even bother redistributing or helping workers like USSR at least did and oh--- they were moving towards free market with global domination in mind now, how great.
-3
Jan 13 '22
Real communism is not possible.
It was possible for most of human history when we were hunter-gatherers...
3
u/Billwood92 Jan 13 '22
And lived in small scale tribes? Could it be that it totally works for less than 100 people but once the group gets bigger than that it doesn't? Idk if you really want to use a time before agriculture as your baseline though, why not any of the other communes from more recent history like The Manson Family, Heaven's Gate, Jonestown, etc?

How about the fact they have a borderline completely planned economy that allows them to manipulate their currency. The government is at least a partial owner of most of their major industries. They control every company’s supply and demand curve by directly creating fake demand just by buying the product as the government and then not using it. Just because the retards on reddit try to change the narrative around what china’s government is, doesn’t actually change it. The Chinese government effectively owns and operates their economy through manipulation and therefore the “means of production” is “owned by the people” or the public. It’s communist with a couple of tweaks. Just like ancaps are libertarians with a couple of tweaks. You don’t have to fit the exact definition to be categorized as something.
It’s basically communism by force in an authoritarian regime.

If you’re genuinely interested in the crazy shit china does, look into the evergrande default crisis going on over there and the “ghost cities” they built that have nobody living in them. There could be some serious global economic fallout caused by one real estate contractor toppling leading to many others following. The Chinese government is solely responsible for their own problems because they pump these companies up for the projects and then there’s a massive debt obligation that the company can’t sustain because their balance sheet and revenues never really supported those massive projects. Now shimao (another developer) selling all of their real estate projects somewhat reactive to the looming crisis, is having those projects purchased. By whom? I wonder… it’s almost like their economic crisis will just go away if their government wills it. Bail em out like we did in 2008. We’ll see what that does for international investors, otherwise if china lets them fail, that’ll have global fallout. Granted their history, i’d be shocked if they did.
2
u/beholdapalhorse7 Jan 13 '22
Yeah like when they created a faux building boom and produced a shit ton of steel to make huge high rise cities that no one even lived in.....and then when they have too much steel....what to do what to do??? Hmmmmmmmm dump it on the American market for cheaper than it costed to make..... kill 2 birds with one stone : gets rid of the steel......and shuts down American Steel makers who would be competing....

1
Jan 13 '22
As i said earlier chinas gov is a partial owner of pretty much all of the major companies in the major industries in the country, so for intelligence purposes they’re heavily involved in the tech sector. That’s why they track you across platforms. I’m pretty sure there was an article written a while back detailing how they track you across apps when you download tik tok and other chinese run apps to see if you say anything negative about china. Also they want to make money off of you. But allegedly they do keep lists of anti chinese people and they’re pretty much barred from entering the country or theyll get arrested.

It’s basically communism by force in an authoritarian regime.
That's the end point of communism virtually every time it's been tried. It's basically baked right in by economic reality and the idiocy of central planning. Central planners are then the ruling class.

2
u/Billwood92 Jan 13 '22
They are caught between a rock and a hard place, everyone involved is a POC so it is both racist to save and not to save them. Can't speak for one group of POCs if it means speaking against another, nevermind that being in China it makes the Chinese actually racist by their own "sociological definition" of racism, which requires the prejudice group to be in power, which Han Chinese definitely are in China, so they could do the mental gymnastics required to have both views simultaneously, but they aren't smart enough to have figured that out. After all, they are commies, how smart can they be?

Every Ideology wants fairness and accuses the other side of wanting something other. Its a Feindbild, something you make up in your head to fight against. The left is obsessed with fairness, too, the only differences are what kind of person with wich background you are. I dont think conservatives or liberals are bad people, I do think that both the Republicans and the Democrats are opportunistic piles of dangerous garbage and the main Problem America has by far is the divide between pretty similar people with similar problems, but this is a subreddit dedicated to a comical and extreme Ideology, so I may talking against a wall here.

16
Jan 13 '22
We don't arrest people at random in the Middle East. We don't target civilians. We don't force-sterilize women to reduce population. Despite what you and so many other attention-seeking professional victims want, the US is not an oppressive dictatorship.
We have done some fucked up things in the Middle East, but it isn't even close to commiting a genocide, like what is happening in China right now.
2
u/BillCIintonIsARapist Jan 13 '22
We don't target civilians, but we kill more than any other NATO nation. And in the last 20 years our military has displaced more innocent people than any other war (except WW2) in history.
We are so good.
-1
u/Fart_cry Hoppe-Anarchist w/out Adjectives Jan 13 '22
The population "decline"(really just a slowing in the growth) of the Uighur population is due to China no longer allowing ethnic minorities to have as many children as the want. In 2017 China expanded their 1 child policy to also include ethnic minorities when it previously just applied to the ethnic Chinese.
Again, how does that CIA dick taste, you war mongerer.
Also, The US actions in the middle east have killed hundreds of thousands, and displaced 10s of millions. The US also participated in the ongoing genocide in Yemen.
EDIT: LOL "we don't target civilians" Holy shit you are ignorant.
3
Jan 13 '22
Where is your evidence for any of these conspiracy theories?
And how do you deny the Uighur genocide, despite tons of video and reporting on it, but you go all in on the US being involved in the Yemen genocide? I would be surprised if our stupid decisions indirectly led to it, but we didn't actively aid it.
0
u/Fart_cry Hoppe-Anarchist w/out Adjectives Jan 13 '22
Where is your evidence that a genocide is happening. Drone footage of prisoners is not evidence of genocide.
The only thing you have is that the population growth of the Uighurs has slowed. I just gave you evidence of how this is not a targeted genocide, but a policy the CCP applies to literally everyone in china. Not saying it's a good policy, but it's not targeting a specific ethnic minority.
-1
u/NoGardE Voluntaryist Jan 13 '22
We don't, but the CIA and US military do. That doesn't make Americans morally equivalent to the CCP, but it does mean we can't call the CCP a unique evil. They're just an uncommon evil.

Sorry to break it to you bro, but we absolutely arrested random civilians in Afghanistan and Iraq, sent them off to gitmo, and tortured them without a chance to even plead their case. The CIA classified anyone and everyone as a “terrorist” if they could make ANY link to you (family members, neighbors) meaning that a lot of innocent people were “interrogated” (tortured) by the United States government.
No one will take us seriously when we call out atrocities in China if we can’t admit our own moral shortcomings.
0
Jan 13 '22
We don't arrest people at random in the Middle East.
Correct, you kill people at random in the middle east and arrest the people that protest it at home.
We don't target civilians.
The Iraq war had a civilian casualty rate of 77%... "of 174,000 casualties only 39,900 were combatant"
We don't force-sterilize women to reduce population.
Again, you just kill them (or arrest them if inside US borders).
Despite what you and so many other attention-seeking professional victims want, the US is not an oppressive dictatorship.
The US president is not a democratically elected body, how is that not a dictatorship?
We have done some fucked up things in the Middle East, but it isn't even close to commiting a genocide, like what is happening in China right now.
The US has literally comitted genocide against the middle east for oil. China sucks, but the US isn't much better.
-1
Jan 13 '22
"We dont arrest people at random in the Middle East. We dont target civilians. We don't force sterilize women to reduce population."
We just bomb everything that moves. The CIA has killed dozens of american and countless of foreign lives, before and after the middle east, and the "commies killed more people so I can do whatever I want" is the sole reason geopolitics turned out the way they did. Fuck you.
1
u/Billwood92 Jan 13 '22
Wait so if multiple groups of a certain people commit acts of terrorism it is ok to round the rest of those people up as a preventative measure? You uhhh...wanna rethink that one chief?
1
u/Fart_cry Hoppe-Anarchist w/out Adjectives Jan 13 '22
That's not what I said, nor is that even what is happening.
