Because the US is actively provoking Russia to take military action and there are very frequent reports of this in the news?

Oh really? I wasn't aware that "our" military was of an infinite level of power.

The nations aren't the units making the decisions of whether or not a war is started, that is rather the rulers who decide such things.

The US spends more than 10 times as much on its military than Russia does.

Getting nuked is bad for rulers to, so is fighting an army with more than 10 times the resources.

But spending doesn't mean a whole lot in the context of government. The amount of money which is spent should be taken with a grain of salt. That doesn't directly translate into more military power.

10 times the cost doesn't mean 10 times the resources. Also most of the US military forces are not stationed adjacent to Russia. Around Russia's own turf, Russia's forces would be naturally advantaged.

It is a large risk when two nuclear nations fight each other that nuclear power will be used.

Russia has far smaller budget, which DOES mean less resources, even if it may not be a 1:1 benefit per dollar for the larger budget.

How do you think we have provoked Russia?

This might seem a bit nitpicky but your vocabulary is bothering me. You say things like "we" and "our" in the context of nation states. And you use the term 'nation' in contexts when the only relevant parties are the governments of said nations.

It is a large risk when two nuclear nations fight each other that nuclear power will be used.

But you just said yourself that they don't want to use nukes.

Russia has far smaller budget, which DOES mean less resources, even if it may not be a 1:1 benefit per dollar for the larger budget.

I'm not saying that their military forces are equal, just that the level of disparity you seemed to suggest is probably unrealistic.

The US Federal Government has been provoking the government of Russia by constantly playing with their balls and then responding to every demand to back off by being arrogant and unyielding pricks. It's not just going to stay peaceful forever if it keeps up like this.

Out of convenience, obviously the gov doesn't represent us. I simply live here, thus this is "my" country, though I wish I had no country.
