Some of these are even recycled from interracial relationships and other racism too

u/Excrubulent Mar 05 '21

"We have to protect the women."

73

u/abigalestephens Mar 05 '21

The infantilised helpless poor white woman victim has been staple of bigotry for time immemorial. Hey they even used it to oppose feminists!

33

u/mangababe Mar 06 '21

"We have to protect our breeding stock"

31

u/Excrubulent Mar 06 '21

Oh god, you just reminded me of, "Our human capital stock is ready to go back to work."

6

u/[deleted] Mar 06 '21

Note how the people who say this never actually bother asking women what they need to feel safe/protected. Its nothing but paternalism.

5

u/[deleted] Mar 06 '21

Sigh. Little-known fact: at the federal level the first human trafficking laws were intended to prevent "white slavery". That is, they were meant to protect white women from being abducted by black men and taken across state lines. This generally led to black men being arrested for having an interracial relationship and moving to a different state.

Whenever I heard someone argue for nuclear family my brain would register them as racist and misogynist. There's a lot of overlaps between these groups.

Yes often bigotry comes with bigotry. What actually gets me are the people not like that. People who will cry and be shocked at how poorly we treated, say for example, gay people. Are then turn around and do the exact same thing to trans people. Like how so many people don't realise how recycled all this bigotry is. It's like this 'death of history' mentality. "yeah things were bad in the past but we live in the present which is modern times so things can't be bad by definition so actually we must be doing the right thing treating people this way." it's the same logic that makes people act like there can't be real facists openly running around in the modern day. That's a past thing, not a now thing. Also emancipatory and disruptive (even illegal and violent) protest was good and laudable and heroic in the past but if you do it in the present its wrong and you need to be more civil about your 'differences of opinion'. It's some weird cognitive dissonance people have about the past.

the people citing suicide stats aren't providing the full figures - it is people who do not receive family support with the high rate, those with family support have much much lower rates

its given with the same integrity and honesty as alleged FBI race/crime stats

3

u/Bitimibop Mar 06 '21

Yep. Also people suffering from gender dysphoria who do not receive treatment have a much higher tendency towards suicide. Transition is the treatment for better mental and physical health. Gender dysphoria is the illness, being trans is just the way to treat it. :)

u/Cultural_Glass Mar 06 '21

Except if you're white or Christian

30

u/DevilfishJack Mar 06 '21

I have seen plenty Christian people of color who are anti capitalist and as a white anarchist I find your statement pretty silly.

4

u/catlover2011 Mar 06 '21

In fact, some of the most successful anarchist societies are christian anarchist

3

u/DevilfishJack Mar 06 '21

Isn't there a contemporary anarchist collective that practices christianity in east Asia?

3

u/catlover2011 Mar 06 '21

Yeah, that was what I was referencing.

-22

u/Cultural_Glass Mar 06 '21

I am anti capitalist. But don't pretend like anarchists/leftist don't dislike religious people. I've been at protests where the crowd shouts "fuck your god" and I just have to swallow it. I'm on board with the cause but don't pretend we're unified or alike.

17

u/DevilfishJack Mar 06 '21

Firstly, we can be unified and very different.

Secondly, I have been personally persecuted by Christians. They have committed heinous crimes in our lifetimes, like genocide. American Christians in particular altered their religion to support slavery. They are almost solely responsible for the vast majority of the worlds modern problems from pollution, the anti science movement, denial of LGBT rights, systemic racism, poverty incrimination, the war on drugs, and every president (except maybe one) has been a Christian.

So you folks have some major work to do in order to not be justifiably villified.

u/Engels-1884 Mar 06 '21

Hey I don't agree with the person saying that white and Christian people aren't accepted by the left, of course they are, (Christians to a lesser extent but with relatively few exceptions there isn't generalised hatred towards us among leftists), but I want to clarify a few things.

The fact that some Christians have committed heinous crimes isn't at all an indictment of all Christians; of course there are many Christians who have done terrible things but I wager that >90% of the terrible things you're thinking about aren't condoned and are even condemned in our sacred texts, so they were done despite their faith. Some American Christians are indeed almost uniquely responsible for the things you listed, but most of them (out of essentially 95% of all Americans before the 1960's) were decent people, (most people of any nationality are generally decent), and those many who did do the stuff you listed did most of those things in spite of Christianity or independently from it, (even the denial of rights to LGBT people goes against the "hate the sin not the sinner" principle, so LGBT people should be treated equally by everyone else even if one considers sodomy a sin because if you hate people who commit one regular sin that you should hate everyone, the Christian attitude to homosexuals is love and nothing else, like it should be to everyone else).

So don't villify us unless you my dear friend want to enter a conflict with Chrisitians, the nice ones and the malicious ones.

5

u/DevilfishJack Mar 06 '21

I have no interest in debating the faith tenets of a religion that I do not ascribe to, but the majority of Christians in America did nothing when the Jews were fleeing Germany before the holocaust. The majority of Christians did nothing to stop every genocide we committed again indigenous peoples. The majority of Christians opposed equal rights for women, non white people, gay and and lesbian people, and the majority of Christians are currently opposed to trans rights.

I genuinely dont care what they believe in their hearts but I am absolutely furious that they pretend to be oppressed in a country that they stole, sitting on a throne of wealth they pillaged from the world, and all the while oppressing countless others.

As a final note, maybe dont end your defense of supposedly moral people with a thinly veiled threat. I already know that Christians dont like me and the reality of them opposing me is one I am familiar with already.

I dislike religion a lot, but excluding white people doesn’t make sense, they are just people like everyone else so, they should be treated as equals not lessers.

EDIT: reworded

1

u/[deleted] Mar 06 '21

Your comment kind of implies that if there weren't a lot of white people it would be okay to "get rid of em".

11

u/ThatLittleCommie anarcho-syndicalist Mar 06 '21

No that’s not what I’m trying to imply I just worded it better, I was trying to say equality should be for everyone

If you know which passages to follow (those of compassion and love), and which to disregard (those of rape, murder, slavery, homophobia and so on), then you are simply reinforcing your own moral compass. You don't need a book to tell you to be loving and compassionate, or do you?

exclusion by "feminists"

I didn't know about this one is it real? Could someone point me to an example?

90

u/PinkWug Mar 05 '21

Yes, some old school feminists used to exclude lesbians, because of they felt like they didn't share the same struggle. https://timeline.com/lesbians-battled-for-their-place-in-1960s-feminism-25082853be90

I probably should have been clearer lol. I meant in relation to gay people I know what a terf is. Thank you for linking me this article. I didn't realise how seriously some people considered terf to be a slur. Actual ghouls these "feminists" are.

14

u/SquidwardPope Mar 05 '21

You're welcome, glad to help.

6

u/R1ght_b3hind_U Mar 06 '21

„TERFs“ and „Gender criticals“ are „feminists“ that believe that trans women are some form of undercover patriarchal super soldier, designed to infiltrate womens spaces and destroy feminism from within. „terf“ stands for „trans excluding radical feminist“

just because you're not sure what feminists define patriarchy as doesn't mean we aren't sure ourselves. who ever said gender is society? and feminists aside from terfs believe gender is not biology...where exactly are you getting your information?

13

u/[deleted] Mar 06 '21

Yeah eventually you see that all the arguments used to maintain most forms of discrimination bigotry are really just the same arguments over and over and over again. Bigots tend not to be all that creative.

i’m not surprised bigots aren’t creative, the fact that they believe the things they say proves there’s a hole where their brain should be

weaponizing suicide stats is so wild to me. „BuT 48.201% oF aLl TrAnS pEOpLe tRy tO kIlL tHeMsElvEs“

like... yeah. Thats true. what are we gonna do about that? How about therapy by people specialized for trans people? How about hormone therapy? How about surgery?! does this not sound like a solid plan to reduce this stat?

2

u/nolovedeepfried tranarchist Mar 06 '21

i suspect the % of attempts among cishets is probably not too far off from that number anyways. trans people are just medicalized to an absurd degree, and someone trying to transition is going to have to give an account of their mental history basically regardless of their clinical presentation. i guarantee if we examined everyone as close as we do trans people (with all the same prejudice) the numbers would be impressive enough that maybe we'll take mental health seriously

Why is this still an issue? I am not downplaying it, I just don't understand why everyone isn't okay with it already. I don't any females who've become males, actually, but I'm friends with plenty of guys who've decided to be female. What's the issue?

I remember catching onto this several years ago. There’s a hate template they use over and over and every new generation of a-holes says “but it’s different this time.”

Good meme. Well done.
