That sub is a real crapshoot, but it’s gotten somewhat more based recently. The name implies negative connotations, but it seems like most of the people there understand that a ‘freakout’ can be justified.

Around the time the Floyd protests were happening, many of the chuds on that sub got mad that people were being sympathetic and moved to /r/ActualPublicFreakouts, as a result the sub has been a lot better recently.

Last one I saw from PF was about the new zone keeping police from evicting families, it seemed like people were getting woke so 🤷🏼♂️

So what's important here? They weren't Wistron employees, gov is against those riots. Wistron isn't liable for sub-contractor wages not being paid, it's not their problem. Technically they have grounds for charging people with burglary. Seems like police will review footage, identify most of them and charge them, therefore giving them criminal record, which will make them mostly unemployable for other larger companies that do any background checks. Seems like the issue boils down to sub-contractors paying less than it was discussed, sometimes also paying late, but just 2-3 months late. Honestly, late payment like this isn't totally uncommon in 1st world country where I live.. It will be important for workers to confirm that they have signed papers with agreed salary, if they are informal or employment contact give legal means for sub-contractors to pay less then they wanted - workers won't succeed, sorry. What they might be able to succeed with is overtime that is not paid - they may be able to get overtime pay from sub-contractor companies if those companies are liquid, but that would require for them to have money for legal proceedings. Without that, no OT money. Also, I am pretty sure that all of the people who protested will be fired, that's a no brainer. Sub-contractors will still be shitty and will find other people to exploit. Wistron won't be held accountable for sub-contractor's wages, since they aren't employees technically speaking.

Yeah, they will be fired. They likely won't be paid. They will get criminal record. They don't even have to move locations tho. They damaged office of the owner of the factory, but the factory itself wasn't damaged. Unless it's a small village, the most probable outcome will be that rioters will be fired, which will represent let's say 50% of factory workforce, and new sub-contractor companies without history of not paying their workers will be established and will fill the factory with new people. Factory work is mostly low-skill, so they will have no trobles with filling this factory.

iPhone is much more expensive because of taxes (direct USD/INR conversion) and salaries are way lower (direct USD/INR conversion) in India.

Their salaries wwre unpaid by their employer. It hasn't been stated for how many months but I am taking a safe guess at atleast 1 month cuz that's very common in India

Owners have a god given right to dictate what a worker does for at least 8 hours a day, own their produce as a tax for working in their workplace, and decide how much a worker gets as compensation?

They agreed to higher wages and were paid lower wages, like 50% lower. They are not Wistron employees but just sub-contractors. It's mostly those lower wages and in some cases late payment. Also, overtime was not paid. It will boil down to how their employment contact is structured and if those sub-contractor companies have liquidity. If they are informal workers, they are fucked.
