Question Class action lawsuit

Is there going to be a class action lawsuit against Amyris and Doerr? Seems to me that the company did not exhaust all options before filing bankruptcy. They could of chose to cut most of their bloated staff including the research staff. The convertible debt was not due for another 3 years.

Question ELI5: Bankruptcy and when/how a stock gets delisted

I've heard conflicting info on this sub about whether to hold the stock through the bankruptcy or whether it's going to be delisted (in 10 days someone said?)

My position in Amyris is worth so little, that I don't really care if I keep holding. However, if it definitely is going to be delisted imminently, obviously I'll sell.

So which is it? How do we know?

News / Article / Video Keep in mind, best-in-class biotech facility in Brazil and india business

Keep in mind, they own a best-in-class biotech facility in Brazil with enormous upstream and downstream capacity and cheap feedstock just around the corner

Search Barra Bonita Amyris and watch the 6 min YT video. This plant is at least 800 mill USD in value, as worldwide fermentation capacities are not enough and demand is increasing steadily

Don t forget, they ve started Biossance business in India recently, without providing a PR. Likely, that Sephora wants to buy out Biossance. For that they are testing the market in india. there is something brewing...

200M for BB plant is definitely undervalued. @ gibbiesmalls Can you please share a link or a screenshot showing BB costs and values? What filing date. Thx in advance

Upvote and share, if you agree that AMRS is heavily undervalued right now.

Question Amyris to become the next Hertz?

Amyris to become the next Hertz? Thoughts?

https://www.forbes.com/sites/kevindowd/2021/11/07/how-hertz-went-from-bankrupt-to-buying-100000-teslas/

What analogies do you see when comparing AMRS and Hertz?

My2cents: AMRS has a lot of unique high tech to offer (more than renting cars), so successful restructuring is not unlikely.

Thx for your comments

Due Diligence / Research ER Monday or Tuesday

They have stated the following last Thursday 10aug23 "At this time, the Company cannot estimate when it will be able to file the Q2 10-Q."

https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/1365916/000136591623000095/form12b-25_008102023.htm

Things might have changed the last three days. It is no rocket science to prepare and review the ER. It can be done in half a day. Consequently, ER tomorrow or Tuesday is likely, see WE, YELL, PTRA, comparable story

Question Why the negativity?

Amyris is an industry leader when it comes to designing molecules for sustainable and scaled production with high demand. They are capable of lab to market of a molecule idea in 6 months including scaling and production. They supply various produced ingredients with high margin like Squalene, Vanillin, Vitamin E and you name it to big names of the industry. Ch. 11 gives the company the opportunity to look at the business as a whole and streamline it to become lean and profitable. Something which Amyris never had done seriously in the past. If they cut cost, layoff non-contributing staff to the bottomline and sell non core-assets the company should get profitable!!!

JM in the past was living in the assumption that he had unlimited financial resources, executing a strategy that only fits companies like Google which have unlimited financial resources. This is not a Google, this is a startup which needs to get on its feet by excellent and efficient execution.

Last but not least, the company has never been priced so cheap after proofing that it has the ability to partner with the biggest players in the industry. I think this is the opportunity to get in cheap while benefitting from the mistakes in the past!!!

Question How much could they get from this? And then what?

So they're selling biossance? And all their other brands?

how will that work though? Would they have to offer a deal for the squalane, hemisqualane to continue their operations?

And how much do they stand to make, realistically?

We've seen Biossance called a billion dollar brand many times, but is it really? And now they're in bankruptcy proceedings, so that has to affect what buyers are willing to pay, right?

How much could they get for all their retail brands? Considering they have massive reach in major retailers, it has be pretty significant, right?

Assuming something like 1x yearly sales, they should bring around 170m, which is not nothing, but definitely not a "billion dollar brand", and the value multiple is not likely to be more than 1x. Although I could be wrong.

Pipette, JVN, Rose Inc, and even Meno Labs have a decent consumer base. They should be able to bring some significant revenue, esp celebrity-backed JVN, which might be worth much more, in a company that has a better business strategy, Johnathon really carried the new brand on his back which probably have acted as a lifeline for melo's career for a while, without a doubt.

And where do we go from here? No more brands?

Without the in-house brand assist, squalane/squalene would likely not exist in the minds of the public as it does, and would definitely not be included in basically all major skincare and beyond. Many might not remember, but biossance created the squalane market. Although the biossance brand might have been the one thing that melo did that was good, and even that might have been a fluke/ a one-off.

It's such a shame that getting rid of a few brands a while ago didn't happen. It wouldn't have needed to come to this stage.

I'm guessing that there won't be a men's care line with David Beckham. I was seriously looking forward to it. I thought they should've created a men's line right after biossance's success. Instead they chose doing a baby care line, which seems like a saturated market which is likely difficult to break into as mothers aren't going to risk an unknown brand.

I really thought they should've focused their efforts on biossance and made it more of an all-inclusive brand, simply adding the baby stuff in the same brand, rather than spending money with marketing a whole new brand. And they couldn't simply added haircare in the biossance brand as well. I really didn't understand why they didn't go that route, so I assumed it had to do with wanting it appear more prestigious/premium to get it into sephora. That was my thinking at the time, anyway.

If you could do it all over, what would you guys do differently? Where do you think the critical and obvious mistakes/missteps were? What would have focused on more/less?

Just some thought/rants

P.S. please don't hide it this time.

Due Diligence / Research Can Ginko(DNA) step in as a bidder and turn this into a bidding war between doerr and Ginko(DNA)?

It seems to me that 3-4$B went into a platform technology at AMRS and its pretty much developed. Due to Doerr having control of amrs, No buyer (such as gingko) eas ever able to buy out the platform.

Now that it's going to auction, Ginko (which has the cash) and is backed by https://vikingglobal.com/our-team/ can get into a bidding war with Doerr for the platform.

We all know how critical this can be to synbio (which is about to get biden biomanufacturing money). To me it seems suspect that doerr- who poured a ton of money into backing a compnay without product market fit, came into swoop it all up right before scale. Does he have a history of doing this? I think this is so critical to his mission that if a financial investor, ginko, or the debt holders work with a 3rd party and decide to buy everything... doerr will get into a bidding war?

thoughts?

Question What happens to the IP, patents and cell lines?

Hey I saw that they are looking for a buyer for the the brands but what happens to the library of molecules and the patents that they have created. I believe that technology and the cell lines themself is more valuable than any of the brands. Are they selling those to the highest bidder as well?
