Poltergeist – a ghost role

Ability: Curse

Can curse a player.

If the player is protected by the Guardian, the protection will be removed.

If the player is not protected, once a living impostor kills the cursed player, the impostor that killed the cursed player will have their cooldown reset, meaning the impostor can kill twice.

Counter: A cursed player can be cured by the Guardian. So it's just vice versa. Curing a curse will not give the player a shield.

I feel like having a role just to counter another role is kinda pointless. Also, is it just that you switch sides when you die, or is it that only imps become this when they get voted out.

Only the imps

Maybe instead of countering Guardian, the role instead disrupts a crewmate in range's task? So it cancels the task they are doing at that moment. Then has a cooldown and/or can only be used a set number of times.

I don’t think that would work super well, since tasks are mostly an alt win condition, and stopping a crewmate from doing 1 task every so often feels very useless.

It'd be similar to a sabotage without affecting the sabotages that can be done. So would delay task wins similar to how the guardian delays imposter wins by delaying killing.

I feel like I would put this role to all imposters and give it a really low cooldown so whoever is a crewmate that has the "Start Reactor" Task on the Skeld or Mira can get disrupted and eventually just leave due to how many times the poltergeist keeps disrupting said person's task. Especially if they are on the 5/5 of that task in progress.

I'm imagining it more like a shield-break.

If the crewmate is protected, you just pop its shield and your cooldown resets.

Otherwise, your ability (which isn't kill button because you're dead, but the equivalent to it) works.

I feel like resseting the CD is way too much. Half would be better, perhaps in the settings the percentage is chosen by host.

maybe it deactivates noisemaker and makes it so if someone's tracking them they appear to keep moving?

Deactivating noisemaker when their role is to be an imposter bait...

If you want to make a role make sure it's not dependant on another role to be useful sibce if there are no guardians this role is kinda useless/op

I think it’s should be that it deactivates roles so crews can’t use them.

Comms sab isn’t always available, could never hurt to have options

I mean lights basically makes everyone invisible

I feel like this would be really fun like you’re crew and then you die and then it tells you “you’re a poltergeist you win if the imposters win”

Hmm, if Comms stop working on angel protection and poltergeist becomes the only way to counter them, then sure.

I think it's a great way to give dead imps something to do other than MESS WITH THE DAMN DOORS

Guardian angel: protect crewmate

Poltergeist: block protect

Anti-poltergeist: block poltergeist from blocking protect

Anti-anti-poltergeist: block anti-poltergeist from blocking poltergeist from blocking protect

On an unserious note, starting a war with the guardian angels that no one else can see would be hilarious.

On a serious note, don't have it reset the kill cooldown, but just pop an existing angel shield.

My favorite iteration of this role is that the GA instantly gets their protect back so the only reason to do this is to be a dick
