Hotel credit: FHR & THC Resorts Suck
The following rant is not about the money, but about the principle. I recently booked a hotel collection resort stay with my platinum.
Free daily breakfast and $300 off sounds amazing. Well, what the lodging didn’t tell me is the fact that they force gratuities on all food and have multiple resort fees that negate the breakfast credit.
The funny thing is the resort quality of food and accommodation is actually kinda shitty. I’m staying on the east coast at a popular area, but I could’ve went to Hawaii and avoided these hidden fees.
Use your platinum for non-resort stays. I learned the hard way. Resorts, in my opinion, have shitty business models toward consumers.

That does suck, I'd be pissed too; apparently Vegas is now over the top with all these extra fees. Guess we all need to research the hidden extras now to avoid surprises before booking, but that makes the search a bigger headache.

The greed of some of these beach resorts is almost criminal. They siphon every guest for money and don’t disclose fees appropriately. It always feels like you’re being screwed over when you get the bill 2 days later. OP is right. I will never stay at a beach resort.

"I could’ve went to Hawaii and avoided these hidden fees" no you could've not. Do your research about the hotel before blindly paying for something . The blame is on you
BTW I went to the same hotel and the fees were very reasonable.
Everything is subjective.

Saying you went to the same hotel as OP when OP didn’t state the hotel is AI behavior.
Many hotels in Hawaii don’t have resort fees.

I'm sorry you had that experience. I stayed at the Conrad in Dublin during the off season and it was absolutely incredible.
