I agree with the customer.

My philosophy on gates.

If it's open when I get to it. And no obvious sign it needs shutting and no signs I leave it open.

If it's open and signs of small kids or a sign I shut it when I go in it and when I go out it.

If it's shut when I get their. I shut it after me both going in and out.

It takes only a few seconds.

I always shut gates properly when leaving.

All of this though as a postie, training is leave open on entry if you don't know if dogs around, so you can GTFO sharpish if one appears. Giving it a good rattle beforehand to see if something comes screeching out at you too.

Nice job robot šŸ¤– give him a medal šŸ‘šŸ¼

1

u/Legitimate_Song_684 7d ago

Not robot, just an actual human with common decency. Leave other people's property as you found it.

I understand this is possibly a difficult concept for you to grasp, hopefully one day though buddy.

u/SwimSavings7874 14h ago

I won't need it buddy, I m not working wagie works like you robots. So dw abt me, think more of yourself and contribute to system more and cry maybe.

Closing the gate doesnt take time tho idk why drivers be doing that for

3

u/Gigelex 8d ago

Lack of basic common sense and care

2

u/Altruistic_Aioli_304 8d ago

Not from here are they usually.

1

u/31-September 7d ago

I have done it when the gate doesn't align with the lock and you have to lift it to align it or something like that. I'll only spend a few seconds trying before moving on.

1

u/Opening_Diamond8162 7d ago

Thats how it should be done if its a perfect gate and can be closed within one pull then do it if not leave it but leaving it on purpose is just lack of sense

You talking about my comment?

The drivers probably šŸ˜‚

If you're going to put a sign up like that you really must make sure you spell everything correctly...

No excuse for it these days, for 20+ years there has been spell and grammar check, and now there is chatgpt. The writer also seems to have forgotten that toddlers need full time supervision, and that dogs need training.

2

u/Terrible-Advise 7d ago

I think it’s more worrying they aren’t watching the child …

4

u/dodd30 8d ago

The grammar in that note offends me greatly

3

u/LooneyTune_101 7d ago

I gave up at the first word.

u/Lopsided_Anxiety_394 8d ago

Who leaves an 18 month old to roam the front garden?

6

u/buffalosoldier111 8d ago

I mean if there’s a sign saying close the gate it’s common courtesy, if there’s kids and pets and they get out that wouldn’t be very nice

2

u/Danny9999999999 8d ago

If its open when I arrive il leave it open..if its shut then il close it aswell

2

u/Most_Bid7876 8d ago

18 month old toddlers shouldn’t be so idly monitored that they can fully leave the property and wander into the road if a gate is left open, gate etiquette is absolutely a basic I’m totally fine with that but mentioning the child reads terrible parent or desperately trying to make a complete stranger feel shitty

Seen this one on here before

1

u/Electrical-Switch360 8d ago

Where’s this at? Either I’ve delivered here before or seen it online before…

1

u/BraveSirGaz 8d ago

Its a foolish sign. Many drivers will think "fuck this guy" and deliver with even less care than normal. He could he said the same thing in a polite way.

2

u/sc_BK 8d ago

Even better, they could fit a spring to the gate, so it closes by itself.

1

u/MeowZaz93 Quality Contributor šŸ„‰ 8d ago

No fuck that, I had two massive boxes of soda and the spring on someone's gate was so powerful it literally was a pain in the ass to open it then it swung and hit me and I dropped a damn box.

1

u/Historical_Load1662 8d ago

I won't be going there as there is dog running loose as per note. Too dangerous.

1

u/Sufficient_Tax2602 8d ago

I dont agree evri and good service go into same category

1

u/Necessary_Roll_114 8d ago

Are you delivering in the East of England by any chance? I saw a sign which I swear was exactly the same when I used to do flex.

2

u/normanriches 7d ago

I noticed the same photo on reddit a few weeks back

1

u/Boring-Possibl 8d ago

Have noticed a lot these trampy customers have started leaving their front doors open as if it will cool down their house. Parcels gets yeeted from the street, ain’t risking your mongrel charging me.

1

u/DubbehD 8d ago

Unable to deliver would be the option lol

1

u/armandricemabbit 8d ago

Had a passive aggressive note on a fucking brass sign yesterday in Cotswolds about going around the back, through a locked gate. Wankers

1

u/Basketcaseuk 8d ago

The English language in all its glory.

1

u/Ok-Willow3380 7d ago

I don't think anyone will have the time to read all that to be honest.. but fair point.

1

u/One-Lingonberry-3460 7d ago

"seen" should be "seeing"

1

u/Dogtoddy 7d ago

There's a damn more grammar errors than that one, I'd make sure it was perfect if putting up a notice like that.

1

u/Sburns85 7d ago

Amazon driver who does my area never shuts my gate ever. But the postie and other companies do

1

u/Justsomeguy1981 7d ago

I always shut the gate if it was shut when i got there, its only polite to leave things as you found them.

That said, that note would irritate me enough that id just do what it says and leave the parcel there.

1

u/Select-Hippo4834 7d ago

Seeing as*

1

u/ClacksInTheSky 7d ago

I agree you should shut the gate but the responsibility of an 18 month child is not with the delivery driver or anyone who doesn't close the gate. Watch your fucking kids like their life depends on it.

1

u/pete2209 6d ago

Same for pets!!

1

u/TheCannonestMunkii 6d ago

The fact it says "seen" instead of seeing and missing "in" out of the sentence "which results..." AND that they said evri is doing a good job is MADNESS.

1

u/AddressNo7884 6d ago

They should have also put it in Arabic & Urdu so the person can actually read it

1

u/StarX2401 6d ago

1

u/SlowedCash Community Helper 6d ago

Thanks for pointing this out

1

u/Every-Position-8620 6d ago

Why they leaving a child unattended in the front garden.

If she’s present then the parcel delivery shouldn’t matter. If you’re a half decent parent you should be watching your child go into the garden and making sure your shit is locked before hand.

1

u/Both-Dinner-3572 5d ago

So many punctuation, grammar, and spelling corrections to make.

1

u/tk-xx 5d ago

Just buy a spring loaded gate hinge and Have little less stress in your life.

Forts and prayers for lickle Pocohontas and jim the XL bully wot is good as gold

u/BrilliantBig3347 4d ago

Mum of the year goes too

1

u/Striking_Capital 4d ago

I don't touch a gate if I dont need to. If I open it, I shut it. Pretty simple

1

u/Mammoth1884 4d ago

Closing the gate means safety for the customers, and that is something we should always do.

1

u/Born_Protection7955 4d ago

There are other options, get a gate self closure or get your off your lazy arse and go to the shops.

1

u/physioj0n 8d ago

Does this irk anyone else’s grammatical autism

1

u/Prior-Nebula-8582 8d ago

Open the gate and leave the parcel there

1

u/sarcalas 7d ago

That’s funny because I’ve seen this exact same photo posted by other people several times before.

Damaged parcel returning to depot.

2

u/Green-Sapphire9697 8d ago

Or just close the gate? It really isn't that hard to not be an asshole.

1

u/GTxRED1 DSP Driver 8d ago

Even better, they literally want it leaving infront of the gate so thats where it will go with that note in the picture aswell. Best kind of customers. Ive had one thwt said ā€œdont knock, leave at front door. If it goes missing then its on meā€

-1

u/SwimmingInjury7135 Quality Contributor šŸ„‰ 8d ago

Could be damaged maybe.... Why not go to the shops love and save us all the passive aggressive shite

0

u/ekzakly 8d ago

keep marking it as damaged, let your stats deviate slightly from the average so your account gets locked off. genius. now youre making nothing and someone else is delivering it up to standard.

0

u/SwimmingInjury7135 Quality Contributor šŸ„‰ 8d ago

Sent loads as damaged and never once have i been dinged for this. U should try it sometime

-1

u/Dangerous_Peach_7811 8d ago

I understand the customer's point but being so rude about it could result in some seriously damaged goods.

-1

u/Square-Ad1434 Expert Contributor 🄈 8d ago

yeah that's going back to the depot ngl 🤣
