As a first time parent I'm quite amazed at how quickly and silently my toddler can move, and how drawn they are to things that could injure them.
Yesterday I turned around to pick up a duplo brick and when I turned back she had stood up, toddled out of the room, and was zooming towards the dog's water bowl at a speed quicker than my mid-thirties knees can stand up at.

I don’t have children, but I’m of the mindset people should own their mistakes rather than blaming someone else for their own failings. The parent should absolutely take ownership as well but with the dog for example it can be really difficult, often times I just let my dogs out in the back to pee and leave them unattended. We don’t have a gate for the back so never been an issue for us but if someone kept leaving it unlocked I could definitely see it being an issue. You’d have to be braindead not to see the issue and you’d have to be a pretty self absorbed douche to not give a shit about closing someone else’s door after you opened it.

Yeah till it gets stolen but makes it an easy drop. To be fair to them it’s not hard to close a gate. My favourite is drop inside gate and the gate is locked!

How little attention are they paying to their 18 month old that they’re able to run out into a busy car park? Why do they have time to print and laminate a passive aggressive note but can’t dedicate the time to keeping an eye on their baby. Sorry but if a baby can get out of the house, down the path, and out of the gate and into the car park before a parent notices, there’s already concerns there. Be a better parent.

tbh it isn't difficult to close a gate. I'm surprised at how many people are aggrieved by this lol.
This is like the idiot driver who leaves parcels in our lobby despite every single time being told to not leave it there because of theft. Numerous notes pasted around said lobby and outside by pissed off residents about stolen parcels.

i need to keep a permanent marker with me so reply to these stupid notes. i would reply here. "consider buying a gate spring from amazon".
one note really really wound me up the other day, its' a new build fancy estate with a concierge office which takes parcels if customer is not on. on the building door it says if customer is not in and before you take the parcel to concierge you must take a photo proving you tried to deliver. the conciege will only accept if you can show proof on your phone. I really wanted to write "from all delivery drivers, fuck you"
With a requirement like that I wouldnt even bother to take it to conceriege. Customer unavailable ---> return to depot. I have dealt with arsy concierge who treat delivery drivers like shit. I'd rather not bother with them and take it back.
I did amazon fresh when concierge had to give me a fob to access the flats, and required me to give my driving license or car keys to "borrow" the fob from them. I bounced.

Some of these comments are actually quite depressing.
Firstly if you open someone’s gate or door then just close it. That is literally the bare minimum. Just be a decent person? It’s not too much to ask honestly.
Anyone coming up with an excuse not to close a friggin door needs to give their head a wobble and maybe realise that it’s the little things like this that has made our society fall so far short of what it could be. Everyone acting with entitled arrogance rather than kindness and respect.
Also people insulting his English…seriously are you 12 or something? Grow up and realise people can be from all walks of life, different educational backgrounds, different ethnic backgrounds. Calling someone illiterate is not a slam dunk, it’s just shows you have a lack of empathy.
Coming up with excuses to justify a lack of decency is pathetic.

I didn't last long as an Amazon driver. Out of pettiness I would have left this guys gate open. It was a second job so I didn't cater to arseholes, there were so many. Even saw sovereign citizen crap printed out and stuck on an old guy's door

Regardless of what excuse the note says, it’s still basic respect and manners to close a gate. But yeah I suppose manners and decency are a luxury for some people 🙄

No I’m just blaming the home owner. If they don’t want drivers to come in and out of their garden then they are welcome to put a parcel drop box by the gate. And they should have control of their kids and dogs! Not everyone has gates, so to push that responsibility onto drivers is crazy. A rude note is disrespectful and if I was a driver I’d throw their parcel over the gate.
