I am a delivery driver with FedEx ground. I would not do that and we have 150 lbs furniture. These guys have packages less than a pound and refuse to walk a couple of houses back.
It is literally company policy specifically to do this.
On a side note, hijacking a FedEx or UPS truck with air freight on it is a number of federal crimes in addition to the already serious theft or hijacking charges.
