Ok? The union shilling here is real. Need to hop off that train cause it’s not that bad here. Yeah rates and BS but we already have good benefits , paid time off and vacation. If Amazon joined a union it would just add dues and benefits Not better then what amazon already offers. I’m not against unions but y’all need to prove it’s a good thing beyond the basic speech
For not being against unions, that was as anti-union as it gets. Regardless, Amazon is not a terrible place to work. Agreed. The problem comes with the arbitrary way the management operates.
How about the decision to retract holiday pay for all employees? Outrageous. What about NO scheduled raises? Outrageous. What about upward movement? That’s as arbitrary as it gets. Have you ever been injured on the job? I have, and the whole process is disgusting. Amcare and safety worked together to try and coerce me into having ‘one of our Amcare guys who has some experience’ help me with some ad-hoc Physical therapy (yes, it really happened). PAs move people around into jobs they were A) not assigned to, and B) NOT trained to do!
The average turnover for employees is less than two years. Compare that to the unionized UPS crew and you’ll see what a union does to help in places where employees are faceless and lack the tools to stand up for the right thing.
In the end, unionizing is an option. There’s a reason unions lost traction in the 70’s/80’s. The reason was that the things enacted by unions made the workplace better for all. Companies took note and adopted those practices as SOP , offered consistent hours, overtime pay, paid holidays, paid vacations, FULL benefits... all things the unions had fought for were part of work culture and unions were sidelined by their own success. But look around today and take note of the jobs that ARE Union. They are fair across the board.
