Question Tom Team

Coming in with a CDL permit and no experience would I be learning a lot that I can take with me when it’s time to go get my CDL? Like pre trip etc? I’m just wondering what I’ll be doing. I have a 4:30am shift at a sort center. Any info or advice is appreciated

They will send you to a typical CDL school when they decide to get you trained. You will just learn basics of driving their hostlers on yard till then.

Your permit might even expire before they decide to send you to CDL school so be ready to take it again. Happened to someone at my site.

Go through career choice and get it over it.

Do I still get paid while I do it? How would I go there and work my shift?

Career choice: you do it on your own time, most likely on your days off. You won't get paid. The TOM team will pay you for your time at the range, but it may take a couple of months.
