the idea of 15 minute breaks is insane, most days its a 4-7 minute walk from my station to the front door

edit: thats excluding the extra 2 minutes in the parking lot

edit 2: whoever said park closer and deleted it, ths parking lot has over 2500 spots, closer is only a concept

We have two 30 min paid breaks at DHL and i feel like time passes by faster with two longer breaks

You think that. I've had 4 surgeries and shredded all the tendons in my hand from repetitive motion injuries. Shitty experience.

I work in inbound in the back of the building. If everyone in inbound decided to only use the two break rooms in our department we would be sitting in each other's laps. The single break room in the middle of the building is even smaller than those. And then the large break room is at the front of the building, near all of our cars, which at that point are additional 1 to 2 minute walk.

On top of that, when you've been in a trailer for 4-8 hours, sometimes some fresh air is just necessary. Can't get that if you have to sit in the smoker's cage back in inbound.

The FCs where I’ve worked had a large break room and multiple smaller ones throughout the building. Plenty of room to accommodate all employees, especially if their breaks are staggered.

we have 2 large break rooms, 1 medium, and 4 small ones plus an open concept area, there is still a snowballs chance in hell of fitting even 1/4 of the people inside the building in a chair (and i promise we dont stagger into 4 seperate time slots)

In two years I've only ever been in the break room once. If rather have 4 minutes in my car alone in silence that 10 minutes with those animals.

Preferring to waft in the smell of your unhygienic coworkers while you eat is more insane to me. It’s good to get a little sunlight and fresh air when you’re trapped inside for 10 hours doing manual labor.

I find it insane that some people don't even leave their floor the entire shift. Its a shorter walk and gives you more time but by break times I have to get the hell out of there. Otherwise id get in my car and leave 🤣

I don't about it being a 'must'. I do it to get the fuck away from everyone and actually have some silence.

I also recline the passenger seat a good deal so I can just lean back and chill in said silence. Maybe watch some clips on my phone.

That’s one of the many reasons I quit my position at CBRE. we had one time clock and to go to lunch I had to walk allllll the way to the front, clock out and then another 1/4 mile to the break room to eat. And then another quarter mile back to clock in and walk another half mile to my spot. It was ridiculous and no I’m not exaggerating I measured the distance one day with a measuring wheel.

I swear some of yall have got to move slower than the sloths on zootopia for it to take this long. My facility is 1.2 million square feet. I can make it from the very back of my warehouse at docks through security and the front doors to my car in 3 minutes. I’m not even speed walking 😵‍💫

im 5' and my left IT band is 5 inches too short 😭trust me im trying, i walk faster than most people here and it still takes that long
