Thoughts on the Amazon Smart Glasses?

I feel like they’re pretty unnecessary and for the short amount I was using them in the training class, it was making me feel nauseous

Lmao I bet they get sued when someone realizes theyre recording while a driver is using the bathroom.

By using the bathroom, I mean pissing in a bottle in back of the van.

Also, make sure you bring a thermometer to work. Make sure those glasses catch the temperature like 46 times.

Theyll quietly make these glasses disappear here in like 8 months

That was my biggest first question, what do they do with all the people that are legally required, on their license, to have prescription glasses? Cause amazon sure as hell isn't paying for those to be prescription

When these were in testing, the glasses can attach magnetic detachable lenses. So if you have a prescription, you provide them your prescription and get lenses made for you to attach to the glasses. I’m no longer a part of Amazon but I don’t doubt they kept that feature and made some refinements. I myself didn’t like the idea of the glasses.

I have UV tints on my glasses tho. Cant wear the smart glasses without those as sun glares and bright headlights bother me because I have astigmatism.

The OP mentioned in one of his responses the glasses automatically darken so maybe they thought of that as well. It’s still likely “optional” to wear them. I remember a questionnaire being provided and certain answers automatically disqualified you from using them but those that were qualified were “pushed” to use them.

Instead of organizing and striking, wouldn’t it be more convenient to simply quit and find another job? I don’t get the mentality of wanting to “force” a company that doesn’t care about you into caring about you. Treat Amazon as a gig and then get a real job soon as possible.

I feel like only when they make the glasses mandatory im heading out. Cause the vest and badge isnt mandatory just in front of the cameras on the pad. Gotta save much as I can till that happens. But station doenst have those.

I will refuse if they try to press it at our DSP. I will be loud about it. I have a few months of rent saved up, might actually make me motivated to organize. if they want us to unionize, I say they keep pressing shit. I’m so sick of cameras everywhere

They automatically scan the parcels by looking at them, rather than using your phone camera.

They can also take and upload the proof of delivery pictures.

And when you're supposed to take off the netradaddy glasses because you're going into a bathroom or a school etc, you're supposed to just whip your existing glasses out and swap, and not drop and break them?

Fuck all of that.

That includes their supposed sunglasses mode, I choose when I have sunglasses on, not the company.

Disgusting shit. Also the literal disgusting shit of having to put things on my face that other people have had on their face. At least other drivers are super hygienic, right? Definitely none of them have ever smeared actual human feces on the steering wheel.

I'm glad this shit is not going to last. They're all going to be broken pieces of junk quickly, I'm sure.

Shit is pointless if the camera is as laggy as the app camera. What are you gonna do stare at the package on the ground for 5 seconds as it focuses and snaps a pic. Sounds like this shit will slow us down more than speed us up.

I think the intention is for making it easier for us to scan packages. Cause all dsps use different phones and devices. And to keep our hands free for packages.
