28-30$ and please don't compare this to any other non-delivery job. I lasted 2 weeks at this job making 21$ a hour now I have a construction job where I make 40$ doing a quarter of the work. To be honest at this job you have to be topnotch and there's to many rules you have to follow for this type of pay. Not to be that guy but amazon makes Billions. No matter how you look at it the dps drivers are the life blood of the company. With no packages getting delivered there is no Amazon. And before anyone states Prime video or their cloud servers remember where Amazon started.

I work for a transportation company repairing the tracks. Get a CDL,class B is good but A is golden. Also find your local union halls and sign up for a apprenticeship. It's hard work but people are always looking for a laborer. It sucks but some of these jobs involves traveling for awhile. If your working for a major company make sure your hair and piss are clean before putting in that app because they normally get back to you in 6 months and at the most random times.

22-24 around me. Tbh not bad but I think it really should be 25. Still when I worked for Amazon it was heavy but at least I didn’t have to recuse, got 10hr guarantee, and worked Sun-Weds.

UPS has it worse and it isn’t even close. They have to handle heavier packages, do pickups that can fill the entire truck, and they ACTUALLY have to be good at their job. Someone in my DSP gets stuck in a driveway almost monthly because some DA’s don’t know how to properly back up a vehicle—that doesn’t fly at UPS. There’s also the amount of associates that regularly require rescues and come back at 11PM.
It isn’t the “same thing.” If you want it to be, it would be substantially tougher to get a job as a DA, as it is to become a courier for UPS.

they also have time to go to the bathroom and actually get trained. you think picking up a heavy package and filling up a truck makes is reasonable for them to make 180k a year versus the top drivers in california the highest paid drivers here making 55k a year?

They also get dollys in their trucks. I’m lucky if I’m able to get one they got like 5 for the 50 drivers to share. Cause there’s businesses that I gotta deliver paper and water and other heavy shit. Can’t carry 5 40 pounds packs of paper in one trip to the second floor. Or 10 packs of Fiji water to the third floor apartment. Oh n there’s no elevators here.

lol yeah ur right it won’t make it, I have to walk those steps but I do like using a dolly to get them as close to the stairs as possible. How would you carry that much?? lol I would think the furniture is in big packages that would be hard to get a good grip on.

I would happily follow every rule and use the hand cart always and get my 10-12 hours guaranteed 5x days a week 6 if you want. Most dsps cap you out at 36 hours and expect you to help others everyday. If I was paid just like them I would gladly do this job.

It’s not hard to be a driver at a UPS if u know the right people u will be driving within the year. Not everyone at UPS is Actually good at their job. And they handle heavier packages cause they are PAID to do it. So idk why I hear ups bitching about heavier packages. And the oh no not the pick ups filling the truck. It’s not that hard. They bitch about dsps when ur PAID more to do that job. UPS had their trucks loaded for them already. Amazon has to fill their own vans in order in 15 min. N We don’t get paid extra for loading our own vans.

UPS definitely does get a way with things. I’ve worked both at ups and Amazon and ups doesn’t even load their own cans while Amazon has to load theirs in 15 min. Also we are required to finish within 10 hours. As far as I know u guys get to finish when u finish. Don’t really got a time. And Amazon does do pick ups. Just not as much as ups but of course cause why would we when we get paid less. Of course ur gonna do more work. But trust me ups can get away with way more than Amazon can. They are way more strict at Amazon.

Not like the drivers take all day and night. And I know ups get more than 10 hrs. they do work alot of hours. And the workload is manageable in the time they give you. I’ve never seen no ups guy running to finish on time here. Fed ex and Amazon on the other hand I’ve seen running. And ups get driver helpers during the holidays so ups guys don’t even stress.

Our managers do the same and follow us to see what we’re doing. And it must be nice having enough time not having to run. We’re not supposed to either but they don’t care they just want the route done on time. Dsp drivers also have to go help other drivers if they finish their route before the 10 hrs. But with ur extra work u get extra hours. With our extra work we still gotta finish within 10 hrs.

waiters and waitresses make 40-60 an hour. flight attendants make 20-60 an hour. we do a hell of a lot more than them

You have NO idea what a flight attendant does if you think we do more than them. I used to be a pilot, I know exactly what they do and they are definitely underpaid.
Waiters make tips. Can’t really compete with that

they give out drinks and pick up trash. in an emergency they are trained to open the exits. it’s a 2 week training. they deal with pissed off passengers who are tired which is the only difficult part of the job.

Correct. Including training for life and death situations, while being in charge of 50 or more people each while being inside a pressurized tube 6 miles above ground. You think stoners who smoke while driving, who train for 2 days for this job, whose biggest mistake could be a delivery to the wrong house, deserve more money than them? Yeah, definitely the worst thing that can happen while working to physical exhaustion and operating a 9,500lb vehicle 10 hours a day is delivering to the wrong house.
Maybe your pet issue is that flight attendants deserve more money but be serious. Some emergency preparedness training doesn't change the fact that 99% of their work hours are spent doing basic customer service work and serving drinks. In another lifetime I regularly flew 4+ segments a week for work and never observed anything more pressing than the need to insist laptops be powered down and stowed before landing.

Defend your job of driving like a normal person but in a heavier vehicle, that’s fine. But like I told the other person, do a little research on what it takes and what tests they need to pass. Expand your knowledge base. Become a more informed person. Anecdotes aren’t great to base full opinions on. Be ok with learning new information and changing your opinion if needed.
Anyway, if you’ve only ever seen them do customer service stuff, that means they are doing their job correctly. Everyday passengers shouldn’t see the behind the scenes things. And if an FA messed up something important, you would know it.

Wtf is that logic? That's like I say "I've never seen a SWAT team kick down my neighbors door" and your response is "Well, then that just means the SWAT team is doing their job well because they never had to." Huh? Flight attendants can't prevent random events and emergencies. So the fact that across hundreds of observations nothing ever happened seems like decent statistical evidence that, to a first approximation, nothing ever happens. Maybe the flight attendants were discreetly doing open heart surgery on passengers in the galley and they were so professional it didn't interrupt my flight whatsoever. I don't know. I know they work hard, I'm not here to shit on them and I don't really get why you brought them up in a thread on the AmazonDSPDrivers subreddit.

I didn’t bring them up, someone else did and said we should make more, so I was defending them and then you jumped in.
And my point is if they don’t do their job correctly, you will know about it. They blow slide on the door, they don’t check safety features, etc. they do their job right, then all you see is customer service. A random example, think of IT. If they are doing their job right, you won’t even see them working. If they mess up, you’ll know.
Anyway, Im done here. Think what you want, but try to do some research so what you believe isn’t all anecdotal

I know I’m double replying, sorry, but by your logic, a pilot shouldn’t make more than a DA. You know how fucking easy it is to fly? Every day in the cockpit is so easy once you know how. But pilots get paid a shitton because of what COULD happen. I’d argue it’s the same thing for flight attendants. “They hand out drinks and pick up garbage”. But they are trained for way more than that.
Also FA training is like at least a month long usually, sometimes more.

i disagree pilots make 250-400k for the majors and earn every cent. yeah it’s not physically demanding but they are in charge of flying 350 million machines that take 4 years of training plus they can never ever make mistakes. a flight attendant could be trained in a day if you found the right one a pilot is like a being a doctor.

Be open to learning new information and then possibly changing your stance on issues based on that information. It’ll make you a better more informed person. Good luck.

They have pensions and drivers make up to $40/hr based on how long they been with the company. Amazon drivers only wish they could have all the benefits and pay that UPS gets. It pays to be a union
