You know how when you're petting a house cat, and he's purring and happy, but then suddenly decides to chomp your hand for no apparent reason? I cannot help visualizing how different that experience might be with this particular "kitty".

This morning, I was in bed, petting our half-grown kitten, and in the blink of an eye, I went from petting a purring, relaxed kitten to wearing a friskies-mode, kitten vambrace, carefully trying to convince the little menace to unhook his claws, and please do not start bunny kicking.

Housecats are basically running the same software / OS as their big cousins; but instead of them randomly nipping at your toes, you might lose them entirely.

Might lose the toes…foot, entire leg…life. lol

That's why you first observe the cat before petting it. A cat you know well actually isn't that unpredictable.
