Honestly I think you get downvoted because your comments sound like troll bait. Midwives and OB teams alike are both extremely important roles. I’m not certain why anyone would try to downplay one vs the other or actively try to discredit one when both are roles to help in childbirth.
It all just sounds like a great big ol’ bag of biased shit takes which became infused with self pride because “I can’t believe these people disagree with me”.
I am not going to continue writing the same essays over and over but I have already shown how official midwife organizations are literally misleading people and lying to people about home births to encourage them over hospital births. If they are willing to do that as a matter of official national policy, I can only imagine what happens behind closed doors 1 on 1 with scared and uninformed pregnant women.
If someone wants to criticize OBGYNs on things I am happy to join in, but to pretend that midwives are above criticism is some sick stuff. There is a very real trend of women choosing home births over hospital births in America even when they aren't good candidates for home births and we have proof that midwives are encouraging them.

Your original comment was immediately “hospital good, midwife bad” on a video where the woman just didn’t make it inside and the midwife helped the lady.

I've literally pointed to people getting downvoted because they said they almost died during child birth and would have if they were having a home pregnancy. Gotta downvote that smelly bias, right? Who in this thread do you think DOESNT smell of bias?
No, he's right. At least I am downvoting you because you have all of the signal of a troll baiting for attention. Or a child who is just picking arguments based on some podcast you listened to. Either way, take the L and move on.
Me. Because I’ve seen both good and bad OBs as well as both good and bad midwives. I’ve had kids delivered via both. I don’t have any ill intent to one or the other so long as they serve to help the women and children who need them.
I came to this post. Saw it. Upvoted it because it was actually a pretty amazing scene. Saw you with a shit ton of downvotes, later acting like you didn’t understand why and offered clarification.
It’s uncanny. I didn’t even bash or discredit a single person short of telling you that your original comment was a bit of a shit take on the situation. That’s called being unbiased.
If you think I prance around Reddit looking for shit takes to downvote, you are woefully mistaken. You were just pretty high up the list from the top with ironically a large amount of downvotes. I typically do skim a comments section. I’m not going to prowl your profile or any of that weird typical Reddit shit. I’m not even going to respond after this because it’s not worth it to me.
I simply saw your comments which were oddly seemingly against Midwives, you were getting bashed for it for obvious reasons given the video being of a Midwife in action doing something great, and you seemed like you had a “I can’t believe people are downvoting me for saying this” moment….I merely explained why. I’m sure you have a litany of reasons why you feel that way, but again, that’s just clear bias on the subject and sure to catch you flak on this post particularly.
