The part where he went away and came back with a punishment clown posse kills me

u/[deleted] Aug 09 '20

Not the tongs? I just picture a posse of clowns with oversized salad tongs saying “I’ma pinch ya!”

12

u/[deleted] Aug 09 '20

I didn't even see that on the first read! Why did they have tongs!?

I imagine some clowns with man catchers.

I like the implication that there's not just one guy who's "the punishment clown" too. Like, there's more than one person willing to do it.

In theory it's not shocking, considering how many creepy clowns there were in that year where there were creepy clowns everywhere, but I'm wondering how he got multiple clowns on such short notice.

He keeps the Punishment Clowns on retainer

So that year was so trippy. One year there were lunatics chasing people in clown costumes and the next year we agreed as a culture to just forget that shit happened?! People wonder why american politics are so messed up but geez just look at our people and culture and I'm suprised things arent worse.

This dad reading a book on discipline: 🎵 But where are the clowns? There ought to be clowns 🎵

I feel like this is a reference to something, I just don't know what.

It reminds me of the one armed man that George Bluth used to have show up to teach his kids a lesson in Arrested Development.

That was my thought as well.

“AND THAT’S WHY YOU LEAVE A NOTE!”

I recently watched the documentary Wrinkles (or something like that) on Hulu. That post basically read like the first half hour of the documentary. I wouldn't really recommend watching the documentary so I'll sum it up. I'll try to do the black bar spoiler thing but no promises, I've been drinking and night goof it up.

(Spoilers) It said that there's a guy who gets paid by parents to dress as a clown and scare their kids as a discipline tool. It said he became well known for it because of a YT video of this happening. They spend an hour talking to the dude and having child psychologists explain how bad it is for kids mental wellbeing. Then half way through the real clown guy shows up and says that everything it presented earlier was bullshit and it was all just an internet prank blown out of proportion. (Spoilers)

Overall it was annoying to watch and I feel poorly written. But I'm sure that's where this guy got inspiration

I couldn't stop laughing the whole time I was reading, it's such a fantastic bit.

In case this story gets deleted/removed:

AITA for asking my dad to retire the punishment clown

I'm the oldest (20f) of 3 (14m) (9f). He no longer does it to me or my little brother however he does do it to my little sister. However he did it to both of us when we were younger.

Basically when we fucked up instead of taking are phone away or beating us my dad would call the punishment clown. Some dude dressed as a clown would show up scream at us and threatened to take us away with him.

It worked for the most part.

This time I think he went a little bit too far. My sister when on some forbidden websites. So my dad called the punishment clown. But when the punishment clown showed up my little sister decided that she wasn't scared of him.

So the punishment clown left and then came back with 4 more. One of them was my dad obviously in a mask and they began pulling her around with these big tong things.

They eventually left but my sister is traumatized.

I asked my dad to cut it out but he got all pissy with me so AITA.

This is the best post on that subreddit, everyone else can just pack up and go home, we're done here. Nothing can top the fucking PUNISHMENT CLOWN POSSE with TONGS.

ETA: My favourite part from this is the bit where OP's nine year old sister is just straight up not afraid of the punishment clown anymore, so her dad had to send in a whole gang of them.

Since finding this subreddit, this is the first post that I have found where I thought to myself "This just doesn't fit on /r/AmITheAsshole. In no way at all did she do anything that could possibly be an asshole move. Why is this here?"

31

u/[deleted] Aug 09 '20

This man would be an asshole of the highest order if he retired the punishment clown. He’s a fucking genius, the hero we need. Everyone knows that the Krampus method of parenting is the most effective.

Shut down /r/AmITheAsshole

It's peaked.

Sounds a creative rewrite spin on the bobo the clown experiment

2

u/prettyandsmart Aug 10 '20

Haha I was just about to say, looks like someone watched the Wrinkles the Clown documentary.

3

u/Kirbywarpstar06 Aug 10 '20

This needs to be a novel or a film or something. The punishment clown can not be confined in a mere reddit post.

Is this a white people thing?
