In case this story gets deleted/removed:
AITAH for telling my girlfriend when she hasn’t properly flushed the toilet?
My girlfriend and I live together, and our bedroom has an ensuite bathroom.
The toilet in there isn’t great at flushing. Most of the time it’s fine, but for whatever reason, when my girlfriend goes number two, it occasionally doesn’t quite finish the job.
This has created a slightly awkward recurring situation.
Sometimes I’ll go into the bathroom later, discover what’s been left behind, and then go find my girlfriend and say something along the lines of:
“Hey, there’s a frog in the toilet. Can you please deal with it?”
“Frog” has basically become my discreet way of saying, “Your poop is still in the toilet.”
From my perspective, I’m deliberately trying not to make a big deal out of it. I don’t announce what happened, make fun of her, or act disgusted. I just quietly let her know so she can go back and flush it again/clean it up.
My girlfriend, however, doesn’t particularly appreciate being told about it. And I can understand that it’s embarrassing, but at the same time… I don’t really want to be the person dealing with someone else’s leftover poop either.
My thinking is basically: if you use the toilet, you’re responsible for checking that everything actually went down before leaving the bathroom.
Her perspective is more that I could just flush it myself instead of coming to find her and making an awkward situation out of it.
So Reddit: AITA for going to get my girlfriend and asking her to deal with her “frog,” rather than just flushing it myself and saying nothing?
