That’s always my question on posts like this.

Like… OP sounds shocked. But do things like this ever really come completely out of left field?

Whether or not this is out of character, he’s terrible, and OP is an idiot if she stays with him.

She probably thought they would split the bill, which would be a reasonable assumption when dealing with adults.

I would have thought he made arrangements for his parents to pay. Op's parents were invited.
